In a press release issued Sunday, the Courage Campaign said it planned to deliver about 30,000 signatures calling for the resignation of Celeste Greig to the California Republican Party Headquarters in Burbank on Monday. The signatures were collected on MoveOn.org's petition website SignOn.
"Everyone is welcome to their own opinion, but not to their own facts," the petition stated. "Rapes cause pregnancy. Celeste Greig (and other factually challenged politicians) need to resign from their high profile political positions so policy can be made based on science, not ideology."
Earlier this month, Greig suggested that a woman was unlikely to become pregnant as the result of a sexual assault. At the time, she was criticizing former Missouri U.S. Senate candidate Todd Akin, who made a similar comment last year.
"Granted, the percentage of pregnancies due to rape is small because it's an act of violence, because the body is traumatized," she said. "I don't know what percentage of pregnancies are due to the violence of rape. Because of the trauma the body goes through, I don't know what percentage of pregnancy results from the act."
Research has found that rape is just as likely or more likely to result in pregnancy as consensual sex.
And this one applies to so many who are of the 'factually challenged' perversion or is that persuasion, or is that the type of persuasion that's perverted due to being factually challenged? Nice trap methinks.
