More revelations emerged Friday about the secret life of Monsignor Kevin Wallin of Bridgeport, nicknamed Monsignor's Meth, who's being held in jail on charges of selling crystal methamphetamine.

A published report said the 61-year-old Monsignor Wallin was suspended from his position as pastor of St. Augustine Cathedral in 2011, because rectory personnel discovered he was cross-dressing in women's clothing at the Cathedral residence - and having sex there.

Federal investigators said after Wallin left his position as the church, he bought an "adult specialty" store in North Haven, Conn. The store was called the Land of Oz. The store reportedly sold sex toys and pornographic DVDs.

A federal indictment said investigators learned last summer that Msgr. Wallin was selling crystal meth out of an apartment in Waterbury and earning $9,000 a week.

The scandal has rocked the Roman Catholic Diocese of Bridgeport, because the charismatic Wallin was once an influential member of the inner circle here. It turns out there 's also a New York connection to this story.

Wallin once served as personal secretary to Edward Egan, now the retired Cardinal of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of New York.

When Egan was appointed Bishop of Bridgeport in 1988, he kept Msgr. Wallin in the post of personal secretary. Egan later appointed Wallin to two, important positions, including Executive Director of the Inner City Foundation for Charity and Education.

When Egan was appointed Archbishop of New York, the report said the two men remained friendly and attended Broadway musicals together.

An email sent to the New York Archdiocese, requesting a comment from Cardinal Egan, received no response Friday.

Rectory personnel in Bridgeport reportedly became concerned about Msgr. Wallin's appearance and behavior in 2011.

Federal investigators believe the Monsignor was a meth user as well as a seller. The indictment said he was getting the drug from distributors in California.

Crystal meth, a stimulant, is highly addictive - even more so than cocaine. It used to be popular in gay clubs and among white-collar professionals - even among teen girls worried about staying thin.

The drug can cause drastic changes in appearance among the worst addicts.

Two teachers we met outside the Cathedral High School in Bridgeport were stunned by the reports.

"I just feel so bad for him to be in that position," said Laura Grover, " and for the Church, another scandal."
