San Salvador: More than 700 slight to moderate earthquakes hit an area in eastern El Salvador in a 24-hour period, damaging dozens of homes but hurting no one.
The brief quakes, which started Thursday and ranged from 1.8 to 4.6 in magnitude, have occurred in the municipality of El Carmen, some 163 km (101 miles) east of the capital of San Salvador, the country's National Territory agency said.
Jorge Melendez, in charge of civil protection, said on Friday that 80 homes were damaged by the tremors, known as an earthquake swarm. A hospital in the area showed cracks on the walls but no structural damage so far, he said.
Army troops were sent in to monitor the damaged areas. While authorities have not ordered evacuations yet, many residents of El Carmen chose to sleep in the open and the army was handing out tents.
El Salvador suffered two powerful earthquakes 10 any ten years ago: one of 7.6 magnitude in January 2001 and another of 6.6 magnitude a month later. The quakes killed more than 1,150 people and left about one million others homeless.

What is the cause of all the Seismic and Volcanic Activity of late?
Weak Sun? Maybe, but that should simply mean a weaker inducement of Earth Magnetic Field strength. The Sun is reported by NASA to have delayed or altered circulation below (the FARSIDE experiments).
Rapidly moving Earth North Magnetic Pole? This is happening, and it's been happening for quite some time (accelerating).
Look at a cross-section of Earth's structure as revealed by Seismic waves.
Outer thin crust, Mantle that is molten rock, Liquid Outer Core of FeS, and a primarily Iron solid core. The prevailing theory is the differential rotation between the Inner and Outer Cores is responsible for generating the magnetic lines of force. But the field is moving. This should say something about the relative orientation of the Inner/Outer cores. If the generator moves in alignment, the field must also move.
Which one, Inner or Outer Core, or both is slowly in motion across the Arctic?
So the Crust appears fixed, but the cores are not. The Mantle is somewhat melted/plastic, and at some point, it would be logical for it to begin a similar motion, dragged or taffy-pulled as the Core Generator movement picks up speed.
Note of caution: I don't know why the Magnetic Field is accelerating, and I could spend a lot of whitespace speculating. I'm only looking at the Earth as being in isolation, but I'm doing so to simplify. Something is going on below, that's for sure, no matter what the cause is, and there's a bigger picture.
