Chiang Rai province is grappling with severe flooding following continuous heavy rainfall overnight on Thursday, extending into the morning of Friday. The torrential downpours caused flash floods and mountain runoff across several districts, with Phaya Mengrai and Wiang Chai being the hardest hit.

Large volumes of rainwater flowed rapidly from surrounding mountains into low-lying areas, causing sudden surges in water levels and widespread inundation. Residents were forced to urgently evacuate and move belongings to higher ground. In many areas, floodwaters reached waist height, with powerful currents damaging property and sweeping away possessions.

Agricultural land — including orchards and farmland that provide livelihoods for local communities — has been severely affected, with vast areas submerged under water.

Venezuelan authorities declared a state of emergency on Tuesday due to the intense rainfall that has fallen in recent hours in various states of the country, associated with the impact of tropical wave number nine, which is interacting with the Intertropical Convergence Zone .

The governor of Trujillo state, Gerardo Márquez , said that the most affected territories are the municipalities of Boconó and Campo Elías , and he remains in constant communication with the National Executive to coordinate the necessary assistance.

"We have deployed the Andes 2025 task force with the support of the National Government, the Regional Government, and the Bolivarian Mayor's Office of Boconó. We have fully controlled all emergency situations ," Gerardo Márquez stated.

Flash floods in Swat River have left 73 people trapped, with 17 from two families from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab confirmed drowned in Fizagat, ARY News reported quoting Deputy Commissioner.

According to Deputy Commissioner Shahzad Mahboob, rescue teams have so far recovered seven bodies, including those of two children, as operations continue to face challenges due to strong flood.

The incidents occurred on Friday at Fizagat, where tourists from two families were having breakfast near the riverbank when a sudden surge in water swept them away.

A viral video circulating on social media captured the harrowing moment, showing women and children trapped in the river as onlookers watched in shock.

At least 10 people were killed and eight others injured on Tuesday after a landslide, triggered by heavy rainfall, struck an area near the Colombian city of Medellín.

Locals were warned to evacuate the area in the municipality of Bello, which remained vulnerable to landslides, the governor of the Antioquia department Andres Julian Rendon said while confirming the casualties, News.Az reports, citing foreign media.

At least 15 people were still missing after the tragedy, which was caused by flooding in a ravine, according to media reports.

Images shared by local media showed houses buried under earth on a mountain bordering Colombia's second-biggest city.

The Associated Press reports:
The number of people killed in a landslide this week in northwest Colombia has risen to 22, with eight still missing, according to authorities.

Crews on Saturday were still looking for victims in Medellín, Colombia's second-largest city, and the nearby city of Bello.

The landslide occurred early Tuesday following heavy rains. It unleashed mud and debris on crowded neighborhoods, enveloping dozens of homes and leaving hundreds homeless.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) office in Hastings, Nebraska, between 3 and 7 inches of rain fell within about 12 hours on Wednesday, most of which fell within four hours.

A rare Flash Flood Emergency was issued in parts of Nebraska on Wednesday after several inches of rain fell in less than a day, causing many roads in the Grand Island area to become impassable due to flooding.

The Grand Island Police Department took to social media on Wednesday night to urge people to stay home and stay safe due to the potentially dangerous situation.

"Travel is not advised," police said on Facebook. "Our officers are unable to access many stranded vehicles at this time."

Police said the Eddy Street and Sycamore underpasses were closed due to standing water, and many streets were flooding.

At least two people including a child have died after a violent storm battered France and sparked flash floods in Paris.

Fierce winds sent locals rushing for cover as 39,000 lightning bolts flashed across the country.

After several days of sweltering heat, the French capital was swamped with floodwater last night as heavy rain and gusty winds wreaked havoc on the streets.

Footage showed streaks of lightning giving the sky above Paris an eerie yellow hue.

Metro stations and some streets in the capital were left underwater as torrential rain and lightning swept.

Parisians were seen walking down streets flooded with rainwater.

Two people died and 20 were feared swept away as cloudburst, flash floods, and heavy rain wreaked havoc in Himachal Pradesh on Wednesday.

Two bodies were recovered from the Manuni Khad in Kangra district while around 15-20 workers stationed at a labour colony near the Indira Priyadarshini Hydroelectric project site were feared swept away following a surge in water level in the Khaniyara Manuni Khad, reported PTI.

According to officials, the workers were resting in temporary shelters near the project site, where work had been temporarily suspended due to rain, when floodwaters from Manuni Khad and nearby drains diverted towards it and swept them away.

Teams from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), local administration, gram panchayat, and the revenue department have reached the spot to carry out search and rescue operations.

Flooding in China's southwest has driven more than 80,000 people from their homes, state media said on Wednesday, as a collapsed bridge forced the dramatic rescue of a truck driver left dangling over the edge.

China is enduring a summer of extreme weather, with heat waves scorching wide swaths of the country while rainstorms pummel other regions.

Around 80,900 people had been evacuated by June 24 afternoon in the southwestern province of Guizhou, state news agency Xinhua reported.

In Rongjiang county a football field was "submerged under three meters of water," the news agency said.

Floods leave six dead and thousands displaced in China

Six people have died from floods in China's Guizhou province, state media said, after more than 80,000 people were driven from their homes this week.

Towns and villages by a key river in China's Guangxi lay half-submerged as floodwaters from a province upstream roared into the mountainous region, with the expected landfall of a tropical cyclone later on Thursday compounding disaster risk.

The flooding that overwhelmed the counties of Rongjiang and Congjiang in Guizhou province on Tuesday has spread downstream to other parts of southwest China, including rural settlements in Guangxi by the Liu River, which originates from Guizhou.

On Thursday, state broadcaster CCTV said "exceptionally large floods" had swept through Guizhou's Rongjiang county since Tuesday.

China is enduring a summer of extreme weather.

At least two people are missing after flash flooding swept away roads in Preah Sihanouk and Koh Kong provinces on Sunday, June 22.

Sum Daravuth, chief of commune 1 in Sihanoukville town, said on Monday, June 23 that a 54-year-old woman named Try Phally went missing while riding her motorbike home along the road to Kbal Chhay resort, which had been cut off by floodwaters earlier that Sunday morning.

"She works as a cook in Sihanoukville and was returning home on Kbal Chhay road and went missing. She hasn't been found yet — only the motorbike was recovered. Our team is continuing to search," he said.

Provincial governor Mang Sineth confirmed that heavy rain continued into the morning of June 22, causing flooding in the Kbal Chhay area. The floodwaters washed out a 20-metre stretch of road leading to the resort at PK4.70, located in commune 1.

Heavy rain in the Salt and South Fork burn scar in Ruidoso caused rushing water to sweep away cars and flood homes over the weekend. On Monday, more flooding came, specifically in the Salt Fire burn scar. Late Monday night, the New Mexico National Guard arrived at the Ruidoso Emergency Management Center as the village prepares for more flooding. Families shoveled out debris from under their homes after flooding impacted the Cherokee Mobile Home Park. Some even piled up sandbags, in preparation for Tuesday's rain.

There were three swift water rescues involving two people and one dog. Cars were left stranded as the water rushed in. Officials said Ruidoso received 1.83 inches of rain, and the storm lasted about an hour.

In anticipation of flooding predicted to begin as early as 9 a.m. on Tuesday, the village plans to have equipment already staged in vulnerable areas to help keep the roads clear. They believe Tuesday's rain will fall on the South Fork burn scar, with even heavier rain possible.
