England: Many more claim seeing spaceships after Cornwall UFO sighting

London: A British tabloid has been swamped with calls from people who claim to having seen spaceship-like flying objects, after it reported of a UFO sighting over Cornwall in South-west England.

The Sun reported on December 29 that one Kelvin Barbery had clicked the picture of a saucer-shaped flying object, believed to be an UFO, from a coastal path between Swanpool and Maenporth, near Falmouth.

Now, a number of people are claiming to having seen alien spacecraft off the same bay in Cornwall where the original UFO was snapped, says the newspaper.

Several Worksop residents had a close encounter of the third kind on New Year's Eve with reports of UFOs over the town.

As the champagne corks popped to welcome in the new year some unexplained lights are reported to have been hovering over Worksop skies at about 12.15am.

Jan and John Harvey, of Carlton Road, were getting ready for bed when they looked out the window and saw something they couldn't explain.

"At first my husband thought I was seeing things. I said it wasn't fireworks or a police helicopter. They were these strange lights drifting along like a helium balloon. They were in a line like pearls lined up in a necklace," said Jan.

A video of what appears to be an object trailing a dark spiraling plume behind it and plummeting toward Prince Edward Island's Northumberland Strait is the focus of intense speculation.

Environment Canada and the Transportation Safety Board of Canada can't explain just what it was a P.E.I. couple filmed in the Island skies on Wednesday evening. When Tony Quigley and his wife Marie of North Tryon, just east of the Confederation Bridge, saw a dark spiral in the sky they went for the video camera.

A P.E.I. couple captured the strange event on video on Dec. 26, but witnesses and experts alike aren't certain what they're observing.

"We were kind of dumbfounded," said Tony Quigley, the P.E.I. farmer who videotaped the apparent unidentified flying object with his wife, Marie Ford-Quigley.

Little green men may have been spotted once again in the skies above Sussex.

Michelle Huggett, 31, was left gobsmacked by the UFO she says she saw zooming across the Downs near Lancing.

The red and orange object was behaving unlike any conventional aircraft she had ever seen.

The mum of one, from Tower Road, Lancing, said: "I was walking through town when I spotted it. It was moving very fast east to west but then just suddenly stopping. There was absolutely no noise at all. It was spooky."

UK: Mystery 'arrowhead' UFO spotted

A mysterious "flying Dorito-shaped" object which was seen by dozens of people just before Christmas has been spotted again - this time in the skies above Lower Gornal.

The strange unexplained flying object was seen by residents in Wallows Wood, off The Straits, at around 6.15pm on Tuesday.

Householders described the object as looking like an "arrowhead" with three orange lights arranged in the shape of an isosceles triangle.

Residents watched it move slowly across the sky before it disappeared from view in the direction of Wolverhampton.

It is the second time the triangular object has been spotted flying over the Black Country in recent weeks.

US: New Year's Eve lights: UFOs or too much revelry?

It was New Year's Eve, after all, and people may be in altered states where they see lots of strange things.

But three groups of San Diegans swear they were sober enough to report seeing strange orange-yellow lights in the sky about 30 minutes after midnight. And the National UFO Reporting Center said Tuesday it got enough "similar reports from across the country" to warrant a follow-up investigation.

Ryan Keegan and his wife, Rachael, were leaving a friend's party at their apartment complex in Bay Park about 12:30 a.m. when they saw the unidentified objects. They went in and got their friends and took pictures with a cell-phone camera.

"We saw four orange lights in a square and right behind there were three orange lights in a triangle," said Keegan, who is in the home-financing business and whose wife is a kindergarten teacher. "There was no sound, no flashing lights, no vapor trail, just solid lights."

Throughout the strange history of America, there have been many bizarre instances recorded when things have fallen from the skies that simply do not belong there. There have been showers of frogs and toads, along with fish, snakes and worms. Blood has been said to fall from the heavens, as well as meat, muscle and flesh. Reports of these things and others have plagued those who search for a logical meaning in the world for centuries. The stories of such things range in believability from the logically possible to the downright incredible.

And for those who believe such things only date back to recent times, it should be noted that the earliest reports of strange falls from the sky actually appear in the Bible - the Book of Joshua in the Old Testament to be exact. According to one story, the Israelites, led by Joshua, have routed the Amorite army and are in hot pursuit of the survivors when a shower of stones fell from the sky and killed more of the enemy than died by the Israelite sword. The Bible goes on to mention other strange happenings in regards to falls from the sky, with the frogs that plagued Egypt not being the least of them.

The British government was forced to admit it had sanctioned a nuclear weapons test in 1974 after a journalist dreamed one had taken place and wrote an article, newly released documents showed Friday.

Then prime minister Harold Wilson strived to keep secret the test in the Nevada desert in the United States that May, but his efforts were foiled by the unorthodox reporting methods of Daily Express journalist Chapman Pincher.

The newspaper's foreign editor, John Ellison, recounted Pincher's dream to senior Foreign Office official Crispin Tickell, who relayed the story in a memorandum to Wilson's Downing Street office.
