US: Paranormal investigators scrutinize Slippery Rock theater, Pennsylvania

It's not unusual for Slippery Rock University theater professor David Skeele to hear footsteps behind him as he stands on stage in the school's Miller Auditorium, only to turn around to see that nobody's there.

Those and other incidents have convinced scores of Slippery Rock students and professors that someone is haunting the theater, most likely university trustee Emma Guffey Miller, who died in 1970.

Last night, a team of paranormal investigators staked out the theater to find out.

US: A haunting in Dumfries, Virginia

A woman went to the Weems-Botts Museum in Dumfries last summer to inquire about historical photos. She saw a docent dressed in a Victorian-era costume looking out of a second floor window.

She then went up to the front door and peered through a window, seeing the same docent walk down the stairs and into a side room. She knocked on the door.
When the docent didn't answer the door, the woman left and called the museum office to complain.

"She was justifiably concerned and upset," said Emma Young, administrative assistant for Historic Dumfries, Virginia, Inc., which manages the museum.

The annoyed visitor came back several days later and spoke to Beth Cardinale, Historic Dumfries administrator. They soon figured out that the woman had gone to the wrong building - the 260-year-old museum building instead of the office building next door - and that there had not been a docent in the museum at that time of her visit.

Feb. 27, 2009 - A series of UFOs flew over the city here during a four-hour period, including a triangular-shaped craft at 7:10 p.m., a huge V-shaped object at 8:30 p.m., a second V-shaped object at 8:45 p.m, and a squadron of 15 to 17 triangular-shaped objects at 11 p.m.

All of the objects were silent and fast moving, according to the witness. Some of the craft appeared to be "bending light" around them.

February a busy month for UFO sightings

Mufon Report - February 28, 2009, The Mutual UFO Network (Mufon) has just released UFO sighting statistics for the month. There were a total of 507 sightings reported to the agency from throughout the world. Of the 454 reported sightings in the United States, the top five states were: Texas - 51; California - 41; Florida - 35; Arizona and Pennsylvania tied for fourth with 27; and, Colorado and Indiana tied for fifth with 22. To report a UFO sighting, go to Mufon's website at www.mufon.com.

Some recent sightings in the United States and Canada include:

Phoenix, Arizona, Feb. 26, 2009 - Amber-colored light

The witness was outside of his home when he noticed the appearance of an amber-colored light in the northwest sky above the distant mountains. In less than two minutes, the light moved rapidly across the horizon then finally disappeared in the northeast sky over the mountains. The witness observed the light through binoculars and described the object's appearance as similar to a hot air balloon. He reasoned that the object couldn't have been a hot air balloon due to the high rate of speed. His wife also witnessed the event, but couldn't get the binoculars focused on the object before it disappeared entirely.

Recently, I wrote here at Cryptomundo about the mysterious Yamapikarya of Iriomote island. However, this mystery cat is not the only cryptid that makes its home in Japan's Ryukyu Islands. On the island of Amami Oshima (Amami big island), there have long been stories of a hairy, monkey-like creature known as the Kenmun. Let us now take a look once more into these Southern islands of Japan, and the mysteries they hide.

Amami Oshima is the largest island in the Amami chain of islands, in the Northern part of the Ryukyu archipelago. The island is part of Kagoshima prefecture rather than Okinawa prefecture, which comprises the Southern part of the archipelago. It is 274 square miles in area, with mountainous, forested terrain.

Sir David Attenborough believes there is 'very convincing' evidence that yetis exist.

Speaking on Friday Night With Jonathan Ross, the revered wildlife expert said: 'I'm baffled by the Abominable Snowman - very convincing footprints have been found at 19,000ft.

'No-one does that for a joke. I think it's unanswered.'

The yeti is an ape-like creature said to inhabit the Himalayan region of Nepal and Tibet.

A photograph of a mysterious footprint, rumoured to be that of the yeti was taken in the Menlung Basin in the Himalayas in 1951.

England: Bizarre lights seen in skies

A string of not quite so close encounters has prompted Swindon people to ask if anyone was out there.

Strange 'dancing lights' in the skies over the town were spotted on Thursday night and reported to the Adver.

Many of those who saw them could not explain what they saw in the skies over Castle Eaton, Cricklade and South Cerney areas.

Mum-of-eight Lisa Embling, 36, from Cricklade, was with her family at the time of the sighting.

Many North American cases exist. Slain animals had no blood, bore signs of laser surgery and some organs were removed. UFOs, black helicopters and others were blamed.

Sheep, horses and humans have also been mutilated. Many cattle were found marked with fluorescent paint. The cause of death was undetermined, their blood, drained and precise laser surgery marks, discovered. Some organs had been removed. Abnormally high radiation levels were found near the corpses. Scavengers wouldn't touch carcasses. Animals were taken from their habitats and mutilated elsewhere. Sightings of UFOs and strange unmarked black helicopters coincided with many mutilation cases.

Phantom footsteps, whispers, a swaying chandelier and a piano that played on its own exposed the presence of ghostly spirits residing in two local museums on Market Street. Or so say members of a few ghost-hunting teams that recently camped out with some high-tech equipment.

The spook sleuths from Scientific Paranormal Investigations and Finger Lakes Area Spirit Hunters on Thursday, Feb. 19, shared their findings with a crowd of about 55.

They played recordings they said captured whispered ghostly responses to questions and faint piano playing. They shared bone-chilling stories of apparitions and chills and breezes that seemed to come from nowhere.
