England: 'Shooting Star' moving slowly, shoots upwards and then dives towards the ground

Witness Statement: I was walking from six ways island towards Fentham rd when out of the corner of my eye I saw a very bright white light moving from my left to right. It looked like it was following the length of Erdington high st. I thought at first it was the police helicopter because it was moving slowly at first. But as it came towards the junction of Wood End rd it seemed to shoot upwards and then almost dive towards the ground. It was similar to a shooting star as it went towards the ground. But I've never seen a shooting star move slowly in a straight line and then pick up speed and head to the ground.

Witness Statement: Outside Leven heading along the main road to Kirkcaldy about 7 or just after I noticed a very bright light very low on the horizon in the direction we were heading. I quickly put on my glasses to have a closer look. At first I thought it was the top of a town's Christmas tree due to its position and height but as we were approaching the roundabout we gained higher ground and I could see 2 bright lights in the distance. Because of this new vantage point I concluded it was no longer the top of a Christmas tree nor was it a star, the only star I could see was very high up just to the left of the moon which I believe to be the North Star. As we passed the roundabout and carried onto Kirkcaldy I could make out a 3rd light. I noticed that the 3 lights were all different colours and arranged in a triangle. The 1 on the left which was the tip of the triangle in my opinion and it was a yellow light, the 1 on the bottom right was an orange reddish light and the 1 on the top right was a bright white light.None of them pulsed nor did it occur to me this was anything but a squadron of helicopters, even though I did find the colours odd. It wasn't till I got my phone out to take a picture on my camera that I noticed something strange. I rolled down the window so there wouldn't be a reflection when I took a photo and there was no noise. If these were helicopters I expected to hear them, then I realised that these 3 lights actually might be connected by a structure, as I started to make out 3 sides connecting the 3 lights like a triangle. It then appeared to turn clockwise.

US: Two Videos Taken of Unknown Object over New York

Report 1 I'm playing xbox when something in my head tells me to look out the window and point and record... I see this bright, intense light. I know for a fact it can't be a plane or helicopter because of the location.

I'm filming the bright light when it just disappears. 10 min later, another ball or light glides into view and then simply disappears. Very odd.

This night was very intense with air traffic and weird activity. It did not duck behind a building. The only building in sight is that tall Condo building, and it vanishes before it passes by it.

Another person downtown also caught the odd light on film vanishing.

Location of Sighting: Monmouth, Oregon

Description: I saw a small, but bright light to the south of Monmouth, Oregon. White light radiated around what looked like several lights along the side horizontally. The lights appeared to be round (about 4-5 from my view) on a rectangular bar that was centered on the UFO. The bar must have been a strip that ran around the UFO, but I could only see the view as a front. I could see that there was a rounded top and a bit of light radiating under the UFO also. It sat there for a good 3 to 4 minutes, but slowly moved to the West slightly.

After 50 years, UK ministry shuts down UFO unit

London - Britain's Ministry of Defense has had a close encounter of the credit crunch kind.

After more than 50 years of service, the ministry has shut down its UFO investigation unit, saying it could no longer justify the cost of running the service.

The ministry said it had found no evidence of a threat to Britain or proof of the existence of extra-terrestrials, despite the public sending thousands of reportings of UFOs to a ministry hotline and email address.

It said it held no opinion on the existence or otherwise of alien life, but added it had "no specific capability for identifying the nature of such sightings."

"There is no defense benefit in such investigation and it would be an inappropriate use of defense resources," it said.

US: Cylinder UFO hovers low near California freeway

A cylinder-shaped UFO about 3 to 5 times larger than a commercial plane hovered low over a California freeway, according to witness testimony from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) database.

The September 3, 2009, sighting was recently posted to the MUFON UFO reporting area by a witness who was driving to work along a stretch of Highway 80 between Pinole and Hercules about 5:50 a.m. that day.

As the witness came within one-quarter mile of the object, it appeared to be between 50 and 100 feet off of the highway, and between 500 and 1,000 feet off of the ground.

The silent and hovering object was described as three cylinders - "two smaller cylinders on the outside and one large cylinder in the middle that protruded past the smaller cylinders. It appeared all three cylinders were connected. There was also no markings."

US: California UFO looks like 'string of lights in semi circle'

A California witness traveling along the 210 freeway spotted and videotaped a UFO described as a "string of lights in a semi circle," according to testimony from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) database.

The witness slowed down to 30 mph to videotape the object with an iphone 3GS.

The object was estimated to be 200 feet over the highway.

Location of Sighting: Oakdale, California (See Map)

Description: I was wondering if anyone else reported strange lights over Oakdale, California from Saturday, November 28 to Monday, November 30, 2009. I saw An orange bright light Saturday around 8 PM move slow across the sky then jump ahead real fast. Then it slowly come to a stop, hovered a few seconds, then turned right and took off across the sky as far as I could see (going south). The light remained a bright orange. Then Monday night I saw it again, but this time I had two people who are skeptics about UFOs see it. This time it seemed to drop 3 orange spears from it as it took off in a southeast direction. It always came from the north. I was Just wondering if there were any other sightings? I tried calling my teacher here in Oakdale because she has a lot of insight into a lot of this, but I couldn't reach her so I figured this would be the next best place.

Date of Sighting: Wednesday 2nd December
Time: 21.30 approx.

Witness Statement: Was leaving Glasgow (was there for personal commitments) when we were on a country lane, the driver pointed something out in the sky, i looked out the drivers side window to see a flying object (triangular shaped) soaring through the sky. Could have been mistaken for a plane if not for the shape, the speed it was going, the red and blue flashing on the 'wings' and the strange (vibrant) light coming out of it, like it was searching for something. It was really clear.

Date of Sighting: Friday 4th Nov & Wednesday 2nd Dec 2009
Time: Friday - 6.10PM/ Wednesday 5.24pm

Witness Statement: On Friday 4th Nov i was picking up my partner as usual around 6pm. As we drove off a massive object appeared above the Merry Hill area. It had 4 lights with an additional single light off to the left. The single light flew back and forth then disappeared as the larger object which was hovering stationary, turned 90 degrees. We are on an elevated viewing point so drove following this object. It was massive, triangle shaped with 5 lights which changed colours. It banked west at approx 30 degrees then followed a straight course going very very slow.
