Biden and Western media telling outrageous lies... This is U.S. nuclear-powered genocide

The Biden administration's purported concern to stop a regional war is another cynical ruse, Finian Cunningham writes...

In the Western media, we are told the Israeli regime is giving short shrift to calls from the Biden administration for "humanitarian pauses" in its "war on Hamas" - which in reality is not a war but a mass slaughter of Palestinians.

The U.S. and Western media report that American President Joe Biden is "concerned" about the mounting civilian death toll after more than four weeks of Israel's siege and non-stop aerial bombardment of the Gaza Strip, a coastal enclave equivalent to the area of Detroit.

Biden sent his top diplomat Antony Blinken on a tour of the Middle East apparently in a bid to persuade Israel to allow "humanitarian pauses" in its offensive against a largely civilian population. Israel's premier Benjamin Netanyahu is having none of that as his military forces proceed with a ground invasion.

The charade being presented here by the Western media is that Washington is somehow acting as a restraining influence. And not a very successful one. A sort of well-meaning hapless foreign power trying to help an ally but also apprehensive about humanitarian suffering.

That's just utter claptrap. First off, Israel is conducting a genocide against a population of 2.3 million people, in which resides a militant group, Hamas, that comprises 1 per cent of that population. This is like blowing up a lake to kill the fish.

Comment: To the rest of the world, the gig is up.

US senator speaks painful truth on Ukraine and Israel aid

J.D. Vance has lifted the curtain on interventionist strategies that kill millions of people and only weaken America...

A freshman US senator from Ohio has just given one of the most powerful speeches ever uttered on Capitol Hill, exposing the dishonesty of Washington's Ukraine policy and the disastrous consequences of its decades-long military interventionism around the world.

It's no wonder, therefore, that Senator J.D. Vance's message was summarily dismissed or ignored by other lawmakers, including his fellow Republicans, and by the legacy media. As Vance acknowledged at the end of his speech, there's no political appetite in Washington to have an honest reckoning with America's foreign policy failures. "Let's have a real debate," he said. "We haven't had one in 30 years."

Speaking on the Senate floor on Tuesday, Vance argued in support of legislation that would provide $10.6 billion in military aid to Israel, rather than combining assistance for West Jerusalem with $61.4 billion in additional Ukraine funding under an emergency spending bill that President Joe Biden unveiled last month. Democrats and neoconservative Republicans have insisted that Washington must bundle its support for Ukraine to fight Russia and Israel to fight Hamas in Biden's $106 billion package deal, rather than allowing separate votes on the issues.

Screwing the Money Mantra
The US Treasury market, essential to the functioning of the global financial system, doesn't seem to be working...

There is a mantra that has essentially become axiomatic: the US Treasury market is the deepest and most liquid in the world. And a corollary to that is: US Treasury bonds are 'risk free.'

These once-taken-for-granted pillars of eternal truth are looking awfully shaky. The tectonic plates of the US-led global financial system have been rustling ever more frequently in recent years but the quivers are now coming more frequently. At the heart of this increasingly brittle and dysfunctional system is the US Treasury market.

Everyone has noticed the sharp rise in yields in recent months. In early October, the US 10y hit a yield of nearly 5%, the highest level in 16 years. This is, of course, entirely understandable: rate hikes by the Federal Reserve have pushed bond yields higher. But what we have been seeing is more than a manifestation of the vicissitudes of finicky markets.

As foreign buyers of US Treasuries dry up and the US government continues to run astronomical deficits at a time of high interest rates, the Treasury market is coming under increasing strain and showing ever more signs of dysfunction. The implications of this are hard to overstate.

'I don't give a f*ck about AIPAC,' says Mark Pocan

Progressive U.S. Congressman Mark Pocan pulled no punches in an interview published Monday by Slate, addressing his ongoing feud with the influential lobby group American Israel Public Affairs Committee — a fervent booster of Israel's bloody bombardment of Gaza and a top contributor to the campaign coffers of Democrats and Republicans alike.

Pocan (D-Wis.) told Slate politics writer Alexander Sammon:
"I don't give a fuck about AIPAC — period. I think they're a cancerous presence on our democracy and politics in general, and if I can be a surgeon, that's great. The reason I'm poking the bear is because they've become a Trojan bear. AIPAC at least pretended to be bipartisan when I first got [to Congress]. Now they're basically a wholly owned subsidiary of the GOP. It's time to call them out for what they are — a front group for conservative policy here in the U.S. — instead of being afraid of them."
Pocan was drawn into the fracas between progressive lawmakers and AIPAC last month after the group falsely accused him and other representatives of "trying to keep Hamas in power." The attack came after 10 members of Congress — nine Democrats and Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) — voted against an October 25 resolution pledging unconditional support for Israel's war on Gaza.

The latest bombing run has hit a facility used by "Iran-backed groups," the US military claims...

US President Joe Biden has ordered an airstrike against a weapons depot in Syria - allegedly used by Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and affiliated groups. The illegal attack marks Washington's latest response to drone and rocket attacks on its bases it unlawfully maintains in the region.

Two US F-15 fighter jets carried out the latest airstrike on Wednesday in eastern Syria, the Pentagon said in a statement. The US had launched strikes in the same region on October 26 against Iranian-backed militant groups that Washington has blamed for attacks on its bases.

Illegal US outposts in Syria and military bases in Iraq have been attacked at least 38 times since October 17, reflecting rising tensions in the region amid the Israel-Hamas war. Tehran has repeatedly warned that various regional forces won't sit idle and and that "new fronts" will be opened, if Washington continues to support Israel in its bombing of Gaza.

Pentagon has only $1 billion left for Ukraine

Washington is about to run out of funds allocated for Ukraine and will need to begin reducing military aid to Kiev, the Pentagon told journalists on Thursday.

The Defense Department has urged Congress to break an impasse and greenlight the White House's request for a $106-billion aid bundle, which includes funds for Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan.

Washington has spent around 95% of previous funding for Ukraine, the Pentagon's deputy spokeswoman Sabrina Singh said, adding that this totals more than $60 billion. Only about $1 billion out of that sum remains unspent, she said. The remaining money will be used to send military equipment from existing stocks to Ukraine and replace it with new orders.

"We have had to meter out our support for Ukraine," Singh told reporters, adding that, although the Pentagon will continue sending military aid packages, they are "getting smaller."

Out of Biden's $106-billion request to congress, $61.4 billion is intended as emergency funding for Ukraine.

Another snapshot of Kiev's military collapse: But it ain't over yet

The spectacular "success" of Kiev's counter-offensive, which echoed throughout the geopolitical galaxy, has predictably engendered what everyone with a brain was expecting: a dogfight.

Enter the Zelensky-Zaluzhny Show - especially after the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) admitted on the record that the war has "reached a stalemate" - code for "we're deeply in trouble". He also referred to "positional defense" - code for "we're gonna keep losing more and more territory."

The dogfight comes complete with Mafioso overtones, as in 39-year-old Zaluzhny assistant Gennady Chistyakov "accidentally" detonating a grenade received as a gift, seriously injuring his daughter and duly blowing himself up.

This might be seen at face value as yet another wacky Pulp Fiction-style sketch involving the top dogs (with no Winston Wolf to "solve problems"). But it does carry an ominous message to Zaluzhny: once again, Mafia-style, from now on he'd better beware of friends bearing gifts.

As for the "counter-offensive", the file, for all practical purposes, seems to be closed. There won't be another one - because there are no more weapons, assets or troops to carry it, except the odd Ukrainian elderly citizens and unsuspecting housewives chased by the "security services" as they exit the supermarket.

The censorship "switchboard": A new layer to the Biden Administration's "Orwellian Ministry of Truth"

Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency
Free speech is in a free fall as millions embrace censorship as a political cause, including some now running for federal office on a pledge to silence others. One of the most alarming aspects of this period has been the emergence of a type of triumvirate of censorship, an alliance of government, academic, and media corporations. Together they have established the most comprehensive censorship system in the history of this country.

That system is being forced out into the public by the investigation of House committees. This week the House Judiciary Committee released a 103-page staff report on the academic prong of the triumvirate. What is most chilling about this report is that it adds yet another layer of government-supported speech controls. It also reflects a conscious and coordinated effort to carry out censorship through allies in a labyrinth of academic and public interest groups.

Earlier this year, I testified at the first hearing by the special committee investigating the censorship system. I warned that there was ample evidence of a system based on "censorship by surrogate" where government agencies used academic and media allies to silence those with opposing views.

Escalation: US, Israel to open second front in Lebanon

A joint meeting of the US and five Arab foreign ministers
A joint meeting of the US and five Arab foreign ministers took place in Amman on November 4, 2023 to discuss the Palestine question
The announcement late Sunday night by the US Central Command [CENTCOM] headquartered in Doha about the arrival of a Ohio-class American nuclear submarine in its "area of responsibility" presages a significant escalation of the situation around the Palestine-Israel conflict.

It is very rare that the use of these submarines is publicised. The CENTCOM provided no additional details but it posted an image that apparently showed an Ohio-class submarine in Egypt's Suez Canal Bridge. Interestingly, CENTCOM also separately shared an image of a nuclear-capable B-1 bomber operating in the Middle East.

Taken together, these US deployments, coming on top of the formidable presence of two aircraft carriers and warships hundreds of advanced jet fighters in the Eastern Mediterranean and the Red Sea respectively, are with an eye on "the other side of the equation," as Secretary of State Antony Blinken quaintly described Hamas, Hezbullah, and Iran during his latest visit to Tel Aviv on Friday.

House Republicans subpoena Biden family for transcribed interviews

House Republicans on the Oversight Committee issued subpoenas for members of the Biden family and several of the family's business associates.

As part of the committee's investigation into the family's influence-peddling operations, GOP Oversight Chairman James Comer of Kentucky announced subpoenas for President Joe Biden's son, Hunter, and the president's brother, James, on Wednesday.

Comer said in a statement:
"The House Oversight Committee has followed the money and built a record of evidence revealing how Joe Biden knew, was involved, and benefited from his family's influence peddling schemes. Now, the House Oversight Committee is going to bring in members of the Biden family and their associates to question them on this record of evidence."
House Republicans officially opened an impeachment inquiry into the president in September following months of controversy over the family's corporate ventures with new evidence implicating Joe Biden in a criminal bribery scheme.

In addition to Hunter and James Biden subpoenaed Wednesday, House Republicans are also seeking testimony from James Biden's wife, Sara, Joe Biden's widowed daughter-in-law, Hallie, and former Biden family business partners Rob Walker and Tony Bobulinski. Hallie's older sister, Elizabeth Secundy and Hunter Biden's wife, Melissa Cohen, were also asked to answer questions from House lawmakers. Only Walker, Hunter Biden, and James Biden were given formal subpoenas.
