The government forces of Syria supported by Russian warplanes have defeated a large group of Islamic State fighters in the Raqqa governorate, the Russian defense ministry reported.

The offensive operation resulted in the defeat of the "most capable and best armed group of ISIL in the Euphrates River valley" the ministry said in a statement, calling Islamic State (IS) by its former name. "Amid the operation 800 terrorists, 13 tanks, 29 pickup trucks with high-caliber machine guns mounted on them, and mortars and artillery pieces totaling nine have been destroyed."

The hostilities took place near the town of Ghanem Ali, located in the eastern part of the Raqqa governorate south of the Euphrates. IS launched an offensive there a few days ago, reportedly seizing the town and fighting against the government forces for the hills overlooking the town.

50 U.S. spies say ISIS intelligence was cooked for political purposes

'A cancer within'

More than 50 intelligence analysts working out of the U.S. military's Central Command have formally complained that their reports on
ISIS and al Qaeda's branch in Syria were being inappropriately altered by senior officials, The Daily Beast has learned.

The complaints spurred the Pentagon's inspector general to open an investigation into the alleged manipulation of intelligence. The fact that so many people complained suggests there are deep-rooted, systemic problems in how the U.S. military command charged with the war against the self-proclaimed Islamic State assesses intelligence.

"The cancer was within the senior level of the intelligence command," one defense official said.

Two senior analysts at CENTCOM signed a written complaint sent to the Defense Department inspector general in July alleging that the reports, some of which were briefed to President Obama, portrayed the terror groups as weaker than the analysts believe they are. The reports were changed by CENTCOM higher-ups to adhere to the administration's public line that the U.S. is winning the battle against ISIS and al Nusra, al Qaeda's branch in Syria, the analysts claim.

That complaint was supported by 50 other analysts, some of whom have complained about politicizing of intelligence reports for months. That's according to 11 individuals who are knowledgeable about the details of the report and who spoke to The Daily Beast on condition of anonymity.

Profits: What do bombs, Bibi, Bezos and business have in common?

Netanyahu
From somewhere in deep space keen alien observers poke elbows and giggle over the state of humanity on Earth. One tiny nation's hidden leadership pulling powerful titanium strings to cause ongoing crisis for billions of people, the idiocy of rule by the 0.1% must befuddle even big brained beings from Andromeda. ISIL, Putin the archvillain, Trump, a man nicknamed Bibi, George Soros and other evil oligarchs, will humankind ever break free?

I read this morning the headline from the Jerusalem Post "Netanyahu to Warn Putin Not to Cross Red Lines" and rolled my eyes. As a southern boy from America's South, I could not help asking myself the question; "How is it this tiny piss ant nation emerged to direct on the world stage?"

Looking at Israel from a rational point of view, is all the western world's money, media, investment, and propaganda really that powerful? Clearly it is, for the rivers of blood and the blinding chaos coming out of the Middle East never seem to either stain or darken Zion. At the behest of the Israeli lobby, Russia gets rolled into a trio of "enemies" the US Congress and our president rubber stamped. Washington insiders tell me the AIPAC lobby twisted every arm on Capital Hill to sanction Russia, Iran, and North Korea in one fell swoop. But I ponder the inability of my fellow humans to spot the blatantly obvious. These wars and crises around the world serve only two purposes. First and foremost, profit buys the perpetrators political and economic leverage. Secondly, Israel (and a few other nations) strengthen their own validity and security, while undermining that of neighbors and adversaries.

Podesta Group retroactively files more DOJ disclosures for pro-Putin work

The Podesta Group belatedly filed several new disclosures with the Justice Department on Aug. 17 related to work the firm completed between 2012 and 2014 on behalf of a pro-Russia Ukrainian think tank.

Back in April, the powerful Washington lobbying firm run by Clinton ally Tony Podesta filed a document admitting its work for the pro-Russia European Centre for a Modern Ukraine may have principally benefited a foreign government. New disclosures revealed dozens of previously unreported interactions the firm made with influential government offices, including Hillary Clinton's State Department and the office of former Vice President Joe Biden, while lobbying on behalf of the center. Embattled ex-Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort failed to disclose his extensive lobbying efforts on behalf of the center at the time as well.

Anyone lobbying or doing public relations on behalf of foreign governments is required to register as a foreign agent in compliance with the Foreign Agents Registration Act. The Aug. 17 filings include short-form registration statements for six Podesta Group employees and an amendment to the firm's registration statement that includes a list of political contributions made by relevant employees throughout 2013.

Conspiracy Theory: Governments deceive their peoples

Conspiracy theory sign on American flag graphic
In the United States "conspiracy theory" is the name given to explanations that differ from those that serve the ruling oligarchy, the establishment or whatever we want to call those who set and control the agendas and the explanations that support the agendas.

The explanations imposed on us by the ruling class are themselves conspiracy theories. Moreover, they are conspiracy theories designed to hide the real conspiracy that our rulers are operating.

For example, the official explanation of 9/11 is a conspiracy theory. Some Muslims, mainly Saudi Arabians, delivered the greatest humiliation to a superpower since David slew Goliath. They outsmarted all 17 US intelligence agencies and those of NATO and Israel, the National Security Council, the Transportation Safety Administration, Air Traffic Control, and Dick Cheney, hijacked four US airliners on one morning, brought down three World Trade Center skyscrapers, destroyed that part of the Pentagon where research was underway into the missing $2.3 trillion, and caused the morons in Washington to blame Afghanistan instead of Saudi Arabia.

Clearly, the Saudi Arabians who humiliated America were involved in a conspiracy to do so.

Is it a believable conspiracy?

Former Australian PM Abbott admits he was passed out drunk during crucial financial crisis vote

Tony Abbott
After years of lies and deflections, Australia's former prime minister Tony Abbott has admitted on a local television program that he missed a crucial 2009 vote on a $42 billion stimulus package intended to shore up the country's banking system during the financial crisis because he was passed out drunk.

Abbott, then a member of the Liberal party's front bench, said he fell asleep on the couch in his office after consuming "quite a few bottles of wine" with two of his peers in the MP's dining room "and could not be roused." The next thing he knew, it was morning, and he had missed the vote, according to the Herald Sun.

The admission comes years after a public row erupted between Abbott and former Labor Treasurer Wayne Swan when, back in 2013, Swan accused Abbott of missing the crucial vote because he drank too much. At the time, Abbott demanded that Swan stop "telling lies" about him, and members of Abbott's party asked that Swan withdraw his comments from the parliamentary record.

I can say that all of the talks I have had with him, up to this day, have served to promote our security and I think the interests of Russia as well, and not just ours," Netanyahu told Israel's Channel 20 broadcaster on Saturday.

The Venezuelan opposition has been "lobbying for sanctions" in Washington against the Maduro government, and now blames him for the economic sanctions imposed by Donald Trump, Foreign Minister Jorge Arreaza told RT.

In an interview with RT Spanish, Arreaza addressed the massive wargames which kicked off across Venezuela earlier on Saturday, bringing together 900,000 people, including 200,000 troops and hundreds of thousands of civilian militia members.

"All the people of Venezuela, all high-ranking military personnel are to take part in these drills to prepare to protect us, our territory, our sovereignty, including by military means,"he told RT after meeting with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres in New York.
