Tehran: US-Saudi partnership gears to trigger 'instability and war' in region

Provoked by harsh anti-Iran statements from US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, Iran's Foreign Ministry accused the US-Saudi partnership of triggering instability and war in the region.

Fierce criticism followed Pompeo's hawkish comments regarding Tehran's foreign policy during his whirlwind Middle East tour. The ex-CIA chief claimed than Iran "destabilizes this entire region" and exploits its influence in Yemen and Syria. His accusations, however, were not left unanswered.

"What the US secretary of state describes as Washington's partnership with Saudi Arabia is a partnership aimed at triggering instability and war as well as promoting arms races and extremism," Iran's Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi said in a Monday.

Such policies, especially those instigated by Saudi Arabia have already sparked "animosity and distrust" among countries in the region, thus fueling the ongoing crisis. Pompeo's criticism, Qassemi highlighted, was "baseless" due to the lack of any proof.

Comment: Blame your enemy for what you in fact do. The recent spate of Saudi-US justifications for bombing the life out of Yemen and vilifying Iran, are diversionary tactics to deflect the crimes of the aggressors as they destabilize yet another region according to a pro-Israel agenda.

US President Donald Trump says a Peace or Freedom House at the border between the two Koreas would be a more "representative" place to meet than any third country. He threw out the idea on Twitter, noting he's "Just asking!"

US President Donald Trump says his much-anticipated meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un will take place "over the next three to four weeks.
"It's going be a very important meeting, the denuclearisation of the Korean peninsula," Trump told a campaign rally in Washington Saturday. "But we'll see how it goes. I may go in, it may not work out, I leave."
The date and venue for the talks between the US and North Korean leaders have yet to be announced, with Singapore, Mongolia and even the Russian city of Vladivostok suggested as possible locations by various media outlets.

Peace House was the site of the historic meeting between the leaders of the two Koreas last week.

Khamenei: Era of 'hit-and-run' strikes are over - any attack on Iran's bases will receive 'heavy response'

Any attacks on Iranian military facilities will be met with a "tough" military response, Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei said. He also accused Washington of engaging in conflict with Iran and shifting its cost to others.

His words came after Syrian Army bases were hit in an alleged missile attack.

"The era of hit-and-run [strikes] has passed,"Ayatollah Khamenei said during a meeting with a group of Iranian workers on Monday. He then warned that if the US or any of its allies decide to attack the Islamic Republic or its bases, their actions will be met with a "much stronger response."

His statements came just hours after the reports about an alleged attack on the Syrian Army's positions in the countryside of Hama and Aleppo provinces. The Syrian state media said that the military bases were targeted in a missile strike launched by an unspecified enemy.

In the meantime, Iran dismissed reports about its military advisers allegedly being affected by the strike. No Iranian advisers were killed or injured in the incident, the Iranian Mehr News Agency said, citing some "informed" sources. It also denounced the reports about casualties among the Iranians in Syria by calling them "false."

The commander of the Fatemiyoun Division, a Syrian pro-government Shia militia supported by Iran, also told Mehr that his unit's base near Aleppo did not come under attack. Earlier, Sky News Arabia reported, citing rebel sources, that over 40 people might have been killed in the alleged strike. Some US and British media also said that dozens of Iranians were allegedly among those killed in the incident that occurred late on Sunday.

Comment: 'Yankee, go home - or suffer the consequences!' This message is clear.

Where oh where did Russiagate go?

Trump
The US House Intelligence Committee declared on Friday that its Russia investigation is ending its career without fruitful achievement. The final reports reveals that 'no evidence' of collusion between Donald Trump's campaign and Russia during the 2016 presidential elections.

The report joins a class of other baseless accusations with Russia at the center of them, whether it is somehow attempting to assassinate a useless former double agent and his daughter using a banned nerve agent, or supporting a tyrannical regime as it employs chemical an nerve agents on its own citizens, doping up its athletes for enhanced performance in global competitions, to hacking the elections of just about everybody.

While complicity and a conspiracy to manipulate the election outcome on Trump's part, or that of his campaign, was not part of the report's finding, it did take the time to criticize the campaigns of both Trump and Clinton for their 'poor judgment and ill-considered actions' relevant to the Russians.

However, while the Republicans are more certain of the innocence of the Trump campaign than the White House was of Assad's guilt for the April 7th suspected gas attack, they have no illusions about the Russian regime's conspiracy to influence Western elections, and maybe even beyond.

Comment: Not only is the "problem" that Trump is Trump, but that the darned guy persists in trying to create a stable and workable relationship with Russia! Doesn't he know that Russia is evil?!

The 4th Yalta International Economic Forum - Where the real international community meets without the Neocon thought police

Around 600 participants from 71 countries met in Crimea at the 4th Yalta International Economic Forum to discuss global co-operation and the building of a better world.

This was the real 'international community,' as opposed to the pretend one restricted to just the US and its closest allies.

In February 1945, Churchill, Roosevelt, and Stalin, the so-called 'Big Three,' met in Yalta to plan for the post-war world. In April 2018, the world faces the threat of war again - not from goose-stepping Nazis - but from similarly Russophobic neocon hawks who seem hell-bent on total global domination.

The imperialist agenda has been thwarted in Syria, where regime-change plans have been blocked, hence a ratcheting up of Cold War 2.0 tensions with Russia from Washington and London. But at the YIEF, one could see the strength of resistance to the serial warmongers.

Trump: US doesn't want to be world's policeman - Tell that to the Deep State

Washington is increasingly not interested in being the world policeman, US President Donald Trump has said, noting the country spent "tremendous amount of money" on policing the world.

"More and more, [we] are not wanting to be the policeman of the world," Trump said in a joint press conference with Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari at the White House. He was commenting on a question whether the latter managed to convince him to up the US troop presence in that country.

"We're spending tremendous amount of money for decades on policing the world, and that shouldn't be our priority. We want to police ourselves. We want to rebuild our country," Trump said.

Buhari said the US has offered teams of advisers who are training the Nigerian security forces, and called it "one of the best things the US can do for us, to stabilize the country."

Comment: It's one thing to speak platitudes about "rebuilding our country" and getting out of the imperial business. But if Trump truly wants his words to be more than just that, he needs to pull American troops out of countries halfway around the world and close all the military bases as well.

Security forces run from the site of a suicide attack after the second bombing in Kabul today
Ten journalists have died in Afghanistan in a coordinated double suicide bombing in Kabul and a shooting in the eastern Khost province, on the deadliest day for media workers in the country since the fall of the Taliban.

Nine journalists died in the Afghan capital when they gathered at the scene of the first of two blasts. Ahmad Shah, a BBC reporter, was shot dead in a separate incident in Khost province, near the border with Pakistan.

In Kabul, a suicide attacker riding a motorbike blew himself up in the Shash Darak neighbourhood, near the NATO headquarters and the US embassy, at about 8am. A second bomber, holding a camera and posing as a journalist, struck 20 minutes later, killing rescue workers and journalists, including an Agence France-Presse photographer, who had rushed to the scene. At least 25 people were killed and 45 injured in total.

Iran: US and Saudi partnership bringing instability and war to the region

Tehran rejects statements by US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo about the alleged destabilizing role of Iran in the Middle East, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qassemi said Monday.

Late last week, Pompeo said during his visit to Saudi Arabia said that the United States was deeply concerned about Iran's "destabilizing and malign activities," accusing Tehran of supporting terrorists, arming the Houthis in Yemen and conducting cyber attacks.

"What the US secretary of state has said about the Islamic Republic of Iran's role and presence in some regional countries is just a rehash of baseless claims. The Islamic Republic of Iran's advisory role in the two neighbouring countries comes at the request of their legitimate governments and is in line with fighting terrorism in the region, and this support will continue as long as the two governments need such help to combat terror," Qassemi said in a statement published on the ministry's website.

The press continues to feed the dying Russia collusion conspiracy theory, spending Friday's news cycle regurgitating Democrat talking points from the just-filed Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act lawsuit against the Trump campaign, WikiLeaks, and Russia.

Yet the mainstream media took no notice of last week's federal court filing that exposes an $84 million money-laundering conspiracy the Democratic National Committee and the Hillary Clinton campaign executed during the 2016 presidential election in violation of federal campaign-finance law.

That lawsuit, filed last week in a DC district court, summarizes the DNC-Clinton conspiracy and provides detailed evidence from Federal Election Commission (FEC) filings confirming the complaint's allegations that Democrats undertook an extensive scheme to violate federal campaign limits.

Israeli analysis: 'What should we do about Russia's S-300 anti-aircraft system?'

Russian S-300 anti-aircraft system could allow Syria to shoot down planes at Ben Gurion Airport, interfere with IAF operations

Russia is expected to deliver the sophisticated S-300 missile defense system to the regime of Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad, Russian officials told the newspaper Kommersant last week.

"The S-300 PMU-2 'Favourite' version of the anti-aircraft systems will be provided to the Syrians free of charge and very soon," according to Kommersant.

The news drew a sharp response by Israeli Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman who promised Israel would act against the system if it is used against Israeli warplanes or other aircraft.

The delivery of the S-300 system could set Israel on a crash course with the regime of President Vladimir Putin. Russian officials reacted to Liberman's comments by warning Israel will suffer "catastrophic consequences" if it dares to act against the S-300 PMU-2 system.
