Why attack Iran's nuclear facilities when striking their oil infrastructure would be much more effective in the scope of a US-led preventive war? Sure, oil prices might skyrocket and the world economy might collapse. But, hey, that's the price you pay for security.

Such a scenario is not a nightmare or an outtake from a remake of Stanley Kubrick's "Dr. Strangelove," but part of a serious recommendation made by two neoconservatives in case sanctions fail to persuade Iran to abandon its enrichment of uranium, a process that can be used to make nuclear weapons or fuel for peaceful energy production.

Comment: It has already been proven that Iran is wishing to enrich Uranium for peaceful purposes. Is It Really So Hard to Believe That Iran Stopped Its Nuclear Weapons Program?

On June 16, 2008, the European Union nations agreed on the need for a new round of stronger sanctions against Iran to discourage Tehran from developing nuclear weapons. At a press conference, British Prime Minister Gordon Brown and President Bush sent a strong message to Iran that it must end its pursuit of nuclear weapons or face a tougher international response.

The U.S. and some of its allies accuse Iran of trying to develop nuclear weapons. Iran denies it, saying its atomic program is aimed at using nuclear reactors to generate electricity.

With Barack Obama clinching the Democratic Party nomination, it is worth noting what an extraordinary moment this is. Democrats are nominating a freshman Senator barely three years out of the Illinois legislature whom most of America still hardly knows. The polls say he is the odds-on favorite to become our next President.

Comment: In August, 2007, SoTT editor Joe Quinn wrote this paragraph, that stands as true today as it did then:

Incidentally, Obama's speech, was allegedly:
"designed to shore up his credentials as a potential commander-in-chief by backing a pre-emptive military action which even President Bush has so far refused to order"
which is just more evidence that America really is totally and utterly screwed (to use the vernacular), because while the entire world hates Bush and his handlers and recognises them as the psychopathic child-killers that they are, the sadly accurate consensus in the clinically insane world of American politics is that the only way any potential 'selectees' like Obama or Hillary are gonna secure the Presidency after Bush's 8 years of bloodletting, is not to call for an end to war (as the American people want) but to upstage Bush in terms of murderous rampaging, and to do it according to the Ziocons' script. And it appears that the formerly liberal democrat Obama isn't about to shrink from the task.

The Hebrew for "institution" is "Mossad". It's also the name of Israel's feared intelligence agency, where Livni briefly worked before entering politics and becoming foreign minister and heir-apparent to Prime Minister Ehud Olmert.

Washington - Vice President Dick Cheney's office acknowledged on Thursday that he was mistaken when he asserted that China, at Cuba's behest, is drilling for oil in waters 60 miles from the Florida coast.

In a speech to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Cheney said on Wednesday that waters in the eastern Gulf of Mexico, long off limits to oil companies, should be opened to drilling because China is already there pumping oil.
