Best of the Web: Conspiracy Fact: IG report confirms FBI had dozens of informants in Jan 6 crowd

Just in time for the Trump pardons, DOJ Inspector General Michael Horowitz revealed on Thursday that there were 26 'confidential human sources' (CHSs) in Washington DC on Jan. 6, 2021.

While the presence of FBI informants on J6 was known, the exact number had never been confirmed.

And because they were CHS's and not badge-carrying Agent Smiths, Politico decided to run with this piece of absolute propaganda.

Best of the Web: I'm a UFO researcher from New Jersey. The drone situation is out of control

Pentagon hegseth budget cuts doge
© IDF/Middle East EyeThe Pentagon’s most recent budget was about $850 billion.
This is a disturbing situation, which is why we, as citizens, must demand that the Pentagon release more information to both Congress and the American people.

Last week, a neighbor sent me a video of a car-size aircraft silently hovering over a nearby neighborhood, its green and red lights flashing in the night. It was one of many messages I've received over the last two weeks about an alarming number of unidentified objects flying over Somerset County, N.J., where I live with my wife and daughter.

As a UFO researcher for over a decade, I'm being asked by friends, family, and neighbors to explain what's happening in our community. While I don't have all the answers (and neither does the FBI, which is currently investigating), I try to reassure people that there's likely nothing to fear. Gov. Phil Murphy offered a similar message on Thursday, posting on X, "There is no known threat to the public at this time."

But the truth is, I am concerned — and I'm also searching for answers.

The introduction of the Oreshnik missile system in Russia reduces to a minimum the need to use nuclear weapons, Russian President Vladimir Putin has said.

Putin made the remarks on Tuesday at a meeting of the Council for the Development of Civil Society and Human Rights.

Russia is not tightening, but improving its nuclear doctrine, Putin said regarding the recent update to the country's nuclear posture. He explained that Russia needs to improve its new missile system more than it does its nuclear doctrine.

Best of the Web: Democracy is dead: A coup against right wing movements Is underway in Europe

soviet union europe communist
Communist Europe
In the past, progressive elites were not generally threatened by the campaigns of the old center and center-right parties because those groups have long been managed by fake conservatives with no intention of disturbing the deviation of the Overton Window to the radical left. But of course, times have changed. Legitimate opposition to the far-left is rising in the form of political parties fighting for secure borders and anti-wokeness initiatives, and the progressives are furious.

They've had a taste of near total power, and though they claim to be the patron saints of Democracy they are openly adopting authoritarian ideals in order to keep that power.

In the US the far-left has been pursuing an all out propaganda war and has abused the legal system for years as a means to stop conservatives from returning to government. The lawfare tactics utilized against Donald Trump were unprecedented, but ultimately failed. In Europe, though, leftists are finding more success.

Comment: The source of this top-down control isn't left-wing. It's AMERICAN-wing.

Best of the Web: Damascus falls: Assad has reportedly left the capital

Bashar al-Assad family
President of Syria, Bashar al-Assad, an his family
Update(2200ET): Damascus has fallen. Unverified reports say President Assad and top officials have fled to Dubai or elsewhere but the situation overnight is fluid and anything but clear in terms of the location of top leadership. They may be in Latakia on the coast, or headed there. What is clear, however, is that the jihadists have entered the heart of the capital.

This brings to an end the last secular and Baathist state in the Middle East, and 50+ years of Assad family rule. Journalist Danny Makki, who is currently in Damascus, observes:
Literally Syrian military/security around Damascus just fled, ran away, changed into civilian clothes escaped, there was no battle for Damascus, it was abandoned and by tomorrow it will be all under opposition control.

A strong 7.0 magnitude earthquake has struck off the coast of northern California, according to the US Geological Survey.

A tsunami warning was initially issued along the coasts of both northern California and southern Oregon - an area that includes about 4.7 million people - but was later rescinded.

The earthquake's epicentre hit closest to the town of Ferndale, California, a small city in Humboldt County about 260 miles (418km) north of San Francisco.

Local officials said no deaths or major widespread damage had been reported in the aftermath of the quake, which is one of only nine such 7 magnitude quakes to strike globally this year.

The terrorists' foreign backers aim to weaken the country and sow sedition across the region, Tehran claims.

The jihadist offensive in Syria was launched in coordination with the US and Israel, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Esmail Baghaei said on Monday. According to the diplomat, it is no coincidence that the terrorists attacked northern Syria right after Israel struck a ceasefire deal with Hezbollah.

The Hayat Tahrir-al-Sham (HTS) terrorist group (formerly Jabhat al-Nusra), along with allied militias, launched an assault on government-controlled territory in northern Syria last Wednesday. The jihadists seized a number of villages and towns in Aleppo, Idlib, and Hama provinces, and entered the city of Aleppo on Friday.

Best of the Web: Asteroid nearly hits Earth in Siberia on December 3, with a 2nd massive asteroid passing this week

mmmmmmmm
A small asteroid was visible in northern Siberia on Tuesday, as it closed in on its collision course with Earth.

It's the first of two expected asteroid fly-bys this week.

The European Space Agency issued an alert for the 27-inch asteroid at 4:27 a.m. ET, with the agency saying the celestial rock would create a visible fireball in the sky but that "the impact will be harmless."

The asteroid, temporarily named C0WEPC5, has become Earth's fourth detected asteroid strike of the year and just the 11th of all time.

Detected strikes are known as "imminent impactors," according to the Kitt Peak National Observatory in Arizona, which identified the fast-moving asteroid ahead of its arrival.

Best of the Web: New research paper shows Little Ice Age, climate fueled by a number of natural driving factors

The Little Ice Age generated image
© Klimanachrichten/AI-generatedThe Little Ice Age, 1250 to 1860 AD
The period between 1250 and 1860 is also known as the Little Ice Age. We have already reported on it several times here. The Little Ice Age was the undoing of the Franklin expedition, among others. In search of the Northwest Passage, the crew failed because of the ice, even though they had set off in summer. Franklin was in the wrong place at the wrong time. He paid with his death.

But what was the climate like at the time and what were the climate drivers? Volcanoes played a major role, but so did a minimum of solar activity. However, summers were by no means consistently wet and cool.
