The US, as the world hegemon system, has to be dismantled, yes. However, it's for the purpose of installing a set of interoperable technates throughout the world that can be centrally managed. As I see it, this is about two closely related objectives:

1 . Cripple China economically by closing its trade routes, and

2. Seize control of the majority of the world's energy supplies to force countries back into using the petrodollar, thus preventing the dollar from declining and the subsequent economic implosion in the US that would follow.

Destroying Iran and seizing its oil supplies would help with both objectives. It is a key hub of commerce in the region, and if it came under US control would make it hard for China to access its markets in the region, in Europe, and in Africa.

Ultimately, this is a last-ditch attempt to regain global hegemony. The US knows it can't take on Russia, China, North Korea, and Iran militarily, so its only option is to attack economically. Europe is too weak to help much, as are Australia, New Zealand and Japan. India is sitting on the fence, unsure which way to turn.

One thing is, many people really need their smartphone. The permanent "entertainment" and pseudo-information torrent serves an important purpose - it distracts them from their own thought, and from their guilty conscience. They know they messed up, and basically (to use christan fundamentalist terms) sold their soul to the devil.

A loss of technological distraction, combined with a loss of financial and economic security, will push many of them over the edge. Suicide rates will skyrocket, as will violent crimes.

It's actually very simple - if we look out on the world, we're either looking at the manipulated or the manipulators. If you can tell the difference, and you pay attention, you can sort things out. Reading some history helps with that, because there's a limited number of strategies that they recycle ad infinitum. But if you can't even sort the manipulators from the manipulated, you're definitely going to feel "waterboarded." If so, that's your first clue that you've still got to make that first distinction. It's a vertical problem, not a horizontal one. Who are the manipulators and who are the manipulated? Don't waste your time and energy fighting the manipulated folks. Mine weren't concrete questions to be answered as such - just meant to point out that rigid moral strictures are more complicated in real lfe than hell and brimstone preachers make them sound. It can be entertaining or reassuring to think that they've got the simple recipe, but it's never that easy. They basically set people up (as well as themselves) to be hypocrites because everybody has to make decisions based on many factors. Let's say you're the uncle of a 17-yr-old who got pregnant. You know the father - he's bad news, a deadbeat with a mean streak. And you know she's not ready to be a mother. In fact, as 17-yr-olds go, she's on the immature side - more like 14 in her attitude, inability to focus, lack of reliability, tendency to plunge into fads, etc. She's confided in you because she's excited about the pregnancy just like she was excited about her new role in the school play. You know that she won't tell her fundamentalist parents and that she's planning to take off somewhere. Where? It's clear that she hasn't a clue how she'll support herself or where she'll go.

Taking all that into consideration, you wait until the excitement wears off a bit and it's no longer the fun new thing - another week or two - then you support her to abort the baby, and counsel her to use birth control, knowing she needs another 10 years of growing up before she's ready for motherhood. And you won't tell her parents. Are you going to hell? Is she? It's certainly not what you'd want to have happen, but you've made the best decision you could in the circumstances.

We don't live in a perfect world or in perfect circumstances, so we can't be perfect people as if we did. It's perfectly stupid to think otherwise.

The real freedom comes when we stop sorting people into guilty and innocent roles in the dream, and instead forgive the mind that dreams of war, enemies, and killers in the first place. That’s the only way the cycle actually ends.

Ultimately, you are absolutely correct. But we live in a world of polarities. Thesis and antithesis are real here because the physical world is constructed of them. Suffering and joy, creation and disintegration have to be realities unless you buy in to the silliness that we live in a computer simulation, which leads to the idea that there's no point to anything we think we experience. I really detest getting into this rag, but…this thinking drives me nuts. The “Son of God” is a term stolen and reworded from the Pagans. Who were unceremoniously wiped off the face of this planet by said good “Christians.” Their icons, stolen and made “saints” by the same—then excommunicated centuries later. The Pagan’s “worshipped” the Sun God, who gave them life. Nourished their food crops giving them food and light for life.

So, I hold my "high hopes" in reserve. Later in the season if I get the capsaicin out of the product I know have growing in the ground I'll come back here a place I'm about to bookmark - and sing the praises of soil in Virginia and hard work and better ideas!

parzival - so in the late 1970's Supertramp was a fine band of memory and I didn't know Rick Davies has passed. God Rest his soul - he sure made some fine music.

So - I mean I have the album they made in 1970 - I used to have that album cover and I must have it somewhere......but that song "surely" was surely a good one.

Maybe I'll find it and post it somewhere - maybe you will!

parzival - So I literally have that 1970 Album from Supertramp - with the cover showing a big breast - I kid you not. I just don't know where it is - but I suspect it might be a "collectors" item, and the album for a kid in the 1970's moved away from Buffalo - it was Golden to me parzival ~

Fool on the Hill - the first album I got was "Breakfast in America" - that "Logical" song is on that album - a fine song - the lyrics so telling.....I liked all the songs on that album - including "Take the Long Way Home". After listening to it with headphones on so many times I decided to get ALL the Supertramp releases - all of them. Their music consoled a sometimes sad kid but 12 or 13 years old.....but I'm sure that is the case for many in the late 70's took a liking to the band and paid for their material.

Come to think of it....the lates 70's timeframe was a time when some seriously Great music was being created and the proof of that is it still stands the "test of time".

JTF Truth - Even in the Quietest Moments has arguably the " most influential " Supertramp song for me...." Give a Little Bit "....but that song you quote with Churchill's voice proclaiming....." we shall never surrender ...." really was a good history lesson!

I remember one time this really pretty young gal (you know - Junior high or Freshman timeframe) said to me "I like Supertramp as well" .....and glory be I should have befriended her but the moment passed and looking back upon it brings a smile to my face. I sure was a dumb kid, but I did like Supertramp and Dire Straits and I could go on, but I did want to mention "Dire Strait" again - just to be on topic and such.....

parzival Wonderful version of Hotel California. Which became one of my all time “if I never hear that song again—it will be too soon” laments.

Where I lived both “rock” (term used loosely) radio stations were definitely not cream of the crop and one was fully automated. Played Hotel California every hour and half hour on the dot. Set your watch by it. Eventually years later I used an ear worm extractor to clear my mind of the swamp gas and could listen and enjoy the song again. This version was cool.

Back in them, dark, golden oldie days, radio was basically your only choice. Somewhere along the line I found some good reading sources for new, non-radio music. Then, of course, actually finding those LPs became a new issue! After accumulating lots of LPs, the industry found new, improved ways to sell me the same music I had already accumulated via LPs. But initially, recording LPs to tape, at least made it mobile. Cassette tapes and tape players kept LPs functioning longer. That all changed with intro of CDs.

IIRC, Dire Straits was the first band to actually record and release the first all digital CD. Up to that point, CDs were actually analog rereleases of LPs Think it was “Brothers in Arms.”

Ear worms cannot be extracted without hearing loss. Unfortunately.

Ran across some mysteriously mystical Scandinavian music vids, somehow, somewhere. One was a bevy of beautiful women dancing around a fire in the woods. Surprisingly the video was short, as were the bevy’s clothing. Really interesting music.

one of the features of aging is that you remember more and forget less.

in other words, you remember when things were better and not worse.

there is significance in that. a kind of reality.

technology however, and technocracy in particular, is helping aging people to constantly forget more, and remember less.
