Outspoken GOP Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) doubled down on calling Democrats "pedophiles," blasted establishment Republicans and demanded that the US stop the flow of aid money to Ukraine in a wide-ranging and fiery 60 Minutes interview Sunday.

Taylor Greene, also known as MTG, made numerous controversial comments during her sit-down with veteran reporter Lesley Stahl โ€” and was promptly panned by many across social media.

In one of the more shocking moments, the Georgia lawmaker responded, "I would definitely say so" when Stahl pressed her on previous comments she has made about Democrats being "the party of pedophiles."

"They support grooming children," Taylor Greene, 48, said without providing evidence.

"Democrats support โ€” even Joe Biden the president himself โ€” support children being sexualized and having transgender surgeries. Sexualizing children is what pedophiles do to children."

The Republican also took a shot at her own party โ€” knocking a number of GOP lawmakers for not carrying out President Donald Trump's priorities when he was in office.

"They failed us," Taylor Greene said, specifically naming former House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.), Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) and Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Utah).

When asked why none of the blame falls on Trump, she said, "Well, the president doesn't control everything."

She also reiterated her opposition to funding weapons and financial aid for Ukraine to help Kyiv win its war against Russia's brutal invasion.
Leslie Stahl 60 Minutes
Leslie Stahl's interview of Taylor Greene was an exercise in plain speaking to which Stahl is unaccustomed. She didn't manage it well.
"What I have voted against is funding a war in Ukraine," she said. "The entire time I have been saying the United States needs to be pushing for peace in Ukraine, not funding a proxy war with Russia."

The interview conducted by Stahl was criticized by numerous political observers, including many liberals, for letting Taylor Greene off easily.

"Stahl interviewed Greene as if she were just another someone unusual member of Congress with some out-there ideas," The Atlantic writer Tom Nichols tweeted. "Showed MTG some of her worst stuff, and MTG just waved it away, and Stahl let it all slide."

Victor Shi, an activist and speaker, called the interview "truly terrible."

"Don't get me wrong: I respect Leslie Stahl. But that interview she just did with Marjorie Taylor Greene was truly terrible," Shi, who was a delegate for President Biden in 2020, tweeted. "Little to no pushback. She let MTG get away with lie after lie."

And author Molly Jong-Fast was also one of many progressives to chime in.

"Elevating a mini trumper because that worked out so well last time," she tweeted.
