Society's Child
The Behavioural Insights Team (BIT) - started by the UK government to then in late 2021 become owned by Nesta, which describes itself as an independent charity focused on innovation - has a new report out.
And while its authors present it as a useful "guide" toward building "a net zero society," what observers critical of this content have taken away from it is that it is promoting, and detailing, various forms of psychological manipulation of people.
The problem that Behavioural Insights Team (aka, "Nudge Unit") has found for itself to solve is a part of the climate change narrative, where achieving "net zero" means doing away with greenhouse gas emissions.
And they don't seem to care if the way to get there is through direct manipulation of people, specifically online, via prompts ("nudges") toward making choices that are not really theirs but serve the agenda.
These choices concern and consume people's everyday lives: what they wear, what and how much they eat, how they travel to work, whether that job is "climate-friendly," how they travel just in general and where to go, for example, for a vacation.
These are all examples of what the report aims to affect from the behavioral perspective, and clearly, the "solution" is to actively push citizens toward "social transformation."
In this sense, the report recommends putting prompts in apps that would seek to direct the user to order less takeaway food through what critics might call "reality transformation" - one suggestion is changing the name of small portions to "regular portions."
At one point, the report mentions BIT case study 4, which deals with "exploring" the role of social media influencers as vehicles to promote "green behaviors."
BIT case study 12, meanwhile, is about "Helping Solent Transport deliver an effective 'Mobility as a Service' app." Solent Transport is a partnership with local transport authorities, while the main idea here is "encouraging people out of cars" and "nudging" them toward other means of transportation.
BIT case study 15 is one about "encouraging" customers to order smaller portions on takeaway platforms.
Several suggestions are made to make "sustainable food easy," including utilizing the fact that online shopping "gives many opportunities to provide timely substitution prompts, or encourage personalized goals and tips linked to product filters and ranking."
BIT says that in producing these case studies of interventions, it partnered with "HMG, the French government, UAE's Crown Prince Court, World Wildlife Forum, Unilever, Tesco, Sky, Gumtree, and Cogo," among others.
Comment: It's not so shocking when you realize they've been doing this all along via advertisements, popular culture media and mainstream news.

Mike Pompeo says “Live Exercise“ [Link]
I found the presentation one sided and steering, with too much personal interpretation especially by JP when featured.
VooDoo6 In my search to understand Earth's ancient history I came across JR th ough YouTube, I was not impressed.Ah gotcha. I was ruminating a while who JR is/was & then It hit me. Yes no doubt about JR & I’ve stated my opinion about him after years of research. I use to live there & studied same MA there. He tows the cabal’s line no doubt about it.

This quote I’m always reminded of:
“There seems to have been an actual decline in rational thinking. The United States had become a place where entertainers and professional athletes were mistaken for people of importance. They were idolized and treated as leaders; their opinions were sought on everything and they took themselves just as seriously-after all, if an athlete is paid a million or more a year, he knows he is important ... so his opinions of foreign affairs and domestic policies must be important, too, even though he proves himself to be ignorant and subliterate every time he opens his mouth.”

I beLIEve JR et alia fits into that MK Ultra Mock-ing-bird category above. Saw it directly happen every stinking day for over 50 years of living there. Part of his shtick is as a shillebrity to develop a collective cult of following the “cool guy” of the hour. While I admit he’s done well for himself, he also appeals to certain type of male individual as kinda a treehouse/club house personality.
I have met many a colourful character who had many a good tale to tell, such a wealth of information is now so hard to find, especially on the Internet.
Trends change as time marches on and it is regrettable that such establishments liken to the English pub are now filled with those who have little interest in their roots and history of their environment, seems collagen and false tans are of more importance.
JR seems to me to personify that trend, shallow talk with lashings of irrelevance.
VooDoo6 The early English pub was once a place where folk met and exchanged thoughts, I'm fortunate to have lived at a time when such a practice still was performed but in a more informal manner 🍻 🍻Well said & true. I remember crawling, limping, stumbling out a few pubs in my day & vibrantly recall precisely what you are articulating. Pub/Bar 🍺🍸wisdom is probably one of the best ways to get a legit street education of truth there is. As you point out that’s not the case now with the genetically engineered dumbed down Gen. XYZ Soy 🌈Boys. They don’t know how to compete as men with toxic masculinity lol🤪. When I was a wee lad I was a Bouncer at a very rough & tough club in Los Angeles. Learned more there about street truth, human interaction, wisdom than anywhere else. Did that for about 11 years on & off while initially going to college earning a degree. It did lead to better & bigger things so it was part of the cathartic molting process of self. Today’s “Soy Boys” 🌈 don’t have a chance or clue.

Agree with your assessment of JR & but this is the very true nature of the cult of personality & how it functions. Nothing of real substance.
Midst I spent over 40 year's in retail management, there's now't stranger than folk.
Ive got my physical battle scars. I remember calling it a day, defending the retail establishment from theft, that's what insurance is for I believe?
I vowed never to engage the torrid element of life that likes to take things for free, until the day came when on a Saturday lunchtime I witnessed a security guard was taking a right pummelling by some drugged up oaf, no one was helping him.
Needless to say i ploughed in, security guard saved and thug detained.
I was going to be charged with GBH, the thug squealed like a pig and tried to claim I'd used excessive force, I didn't, I was professional and quickly recovered a desperate situation.
Not many get involved in such unsavoury moments of life, takes a cool head and a calm hand, I think you'd agree.
