MI5 claims Chinese government 'agent' has been 'active' in UK parliament, comes amid No 10 lockdown parties scandal

Christine Lee has made large donations to Labour MP Barry Gardiner's office, but he said MI5 has reassured him they were all above board. Her son resigned from his office today.

MI5 has warned that a Chinese government agent has been working in parliament "to subvert the processes", MPs have been told.

Comment: British politics has lacked integrity for decades, that much is clear, and much of the corruption is home grown.

A letter was sent to MPs by Speaker Sir Lindsay Hoyle who said MI5 warned him a woman called Christine Lee has been "engaged in political interference activities on behalf of the Chinese Communist Party, engaging with members here at parliament".

MI5 sent out an "interference alert" warning Ms Lee has "facilitated financial donations to serving and aspiring parliamentarians on behalf of foreign nationals based in Hong Kong and China...done covertly to mask the origins of the payments".

Comment: When do we ever hear about 'interference alerts' for lobby groups? More to the point, when do we ever hear about 'interference alerts'?

China denied the allegations late on Thursday night, saying it had "no need" to "buy influence" in any foreign parliament.

Labour frontbencher and former minister Barry Gardiner has been named as an MP who accepted large donations from the Chinese woman, and he confirmed her son was working for him but resigned today.

Longstanding investigation but warning is new

Home Secretary Priti Patel said a longstanding investigation into Ms Lee has been ongoing but Thursday's revelations about her are "relatively new" and said what she has been engaging in "is currently under the criminal threshold but the alert puts MPs on notice".

Comment: So what Ms Lee has been accused of isn't even against the law? Meanwhile MPs are actually breaking the law with their 'VIP lane' PPE 'deals' and lockdown parties, to name but two of the plethora of crimes par for the course for officials these days.

She denied the announcement today was to distract from calls for the prime minister to resign over Number 10 lockdown parties, saying it was MI5 and the parliamentary security services' decision when to release the alert.

Comment: Indeed, this relative non-story serves a number agendas. And, fortuitously, 'fully vaccinated' Bojo just happened to test positive for covid, again, and is currently riding out the scandals in self-isolation.

Ms Patel added there is ongoing work on what further measures the government can take, and this is something she is working on changing through the law.

Comment: That's concerning, because the vast majority of laws being pushed through these days aim to legalise the criminality of those in government whilst also removing the freedoms of the average person: UK gives legal powers to various agencies to plan and commit CRIME, court rules

Christine Lee 'involved in political interference in UK'

MI5 said Ms Lee, a lawyer, has been involved with MPs and hopeful MPs as well as members of the now-disbanded all-party parliamentary group, Chinese in Britain.

Comment: Meanwhile the parliamentary 'Friends of Israel' groups continue unmolested, despite being, according to Michael Mates, a Conservative MP and privy councillor, "the most powerful political lobby [...] There's nothing to touch them."

In the alert, it said: "Lee has acted covertly in coordination with the United Front Work Department of the Chinese Communist Party (UFWD) and is judged to be involved in political interference activities in the UK."

Comment: All things considered, these are pretty weak allegations thus far.

Sir Lindsay told MPs if they have been approached by Ms Lee they should contact parliament's director of security.

Ms Lee has been pictured over the years with former Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn, talking to David Cameron in 2015 and was given a prize by Theresa May for "promoting engagement, understanding and cooperation between the Chinese community and wider UK society".

The law firm she runs claims to be the "first and only" UK-Chinese law firm authorised by the Chinese Ministry of Justice as a foreign law firm to operate in China.

Donations to Labour and Lib Dem MPs

The MPs' register of interests shows Ms Lee has made more than £700,000 in donations to parliamentarians, much of that to Mr Gardiner.

He told Sky News he has been liaising with MI5 "for a number of years" about Ms Lee "and they have always known, and been made fully aware by me, of her engagement with my office and the donations she made to fund researchers in my office".

Mr Gardiner added: "Steps were taken to ensure she had no role in either the appointment or management of those researchers.

"They are also aware that I have not benefitted personally from those donations in any way. She ceased funding any workers in my office in June 2020."

He said MI5 has assured him funding Ms Lee provided to him was not through "improper" means.

Comment: Indeed. However MI5 needed to concoct a scandal and this was the best they could come up with, which in itself is rather revealing. It's reminiscent of the US-Canada detention of the Huawei executive that just so happened to coincide with, and hinder, the company's roll out of 5G technologies in the West.

Mr Gardiner added that her son had been working for him as a diary manager but he resigned earlier on Thursday and MI5 said they "have no intelligence that shows he was aware of, or complicit in, his mother's illegal activity".

Comment: What illegal activity? Patel said she was 'under the criminal threshold'? MI5 have accused her of 'interference' but provided no evidence of illegal activity, nor has she been charged with anything.

The MP's register of interests also shows current Lib Dem leader Sir Ed Davey received a £5,000 donation from Ms Lee in 2013.

China-sanctioned Tory raises concerns over safety of activists

Leading Tory Iain Duncan Smith, who is among several MPs China has placed sanctions on for speaking up against its treatment of the Uyghurs, told Sky News Ms Lee should be made to leave the UK and said he was concerned for people he is helping flee the Chinese regime.

Comment: It's rather telling that Ian Duncan Smith claims to be so concerned about the welfare of the Uyghurs, meanwhile back home in the UK he is infamous for his aggressive polices against the UK's poor and vulnerable.

He said: "I think this is clearly a form of spying, I hear they're not going to be kicked out.

"Why in heaven's name is such an agent allowed in the country?"

Mr Duncan Smith said his offices may have been targeted for information of people he was helping escape China.

"I don't want to be the source of information about them that goes back to the Chinese government for them to be arrested or their families to be abused. This is a serious, serious issue and has massive repercussions."

Comment: What's perhaps most revealing is how this has been made frontpage news, meanwhile we found out just a few days ago that Denmark's intelligence chief was arrested over a month ago for leaking top secret information (most likely to the West and Israel) the details of which still haven't been made public, and the story was mostly buried. Also compare the publicity this story is receiving with the well documented corruption by those with connections to the US, and Israel, that led to the removal of Jeremy Corby from the Labour leadership:

Here follows a work prepared by Sisson and myself (by Francio, Ed.) Starting from original documents that we managed to obtain and whose authenticity is beyond doubt. These documents, which tend to prove that Lenin and Trotsky as well as other Bolshevik leaders were paid in Germany and that the destruction of Russia is but one of the elements of Germany's plan to sow disorganization among the Entente countries, came to me from different sources. The Kaiser Revolution, aka OCTOBER REVOLUTION:

November 16, 1917.

Comrades Polivanov and Zalkind, senior officials of the Commissariat for Foreign Affairs of the newly born Bolshevik regime, sign a document addressed to the President of the Council of People's Commissars, Lenin. The document reads: "According to the resolution taken at the meeting of Comrades People's Commissars Lenin, Trotsky, Podvoysky, Dybenko, Volodarsky, we have carried out the following:

1) in the archives of the Ministry of Justice from the file on the "betrayal" of comrades Lenin, Zinoviev, Kamenev, Kollontaj, etc. we have removed the order of the German imperial bank no. 7433 of 2 March 1917 with the authorization of a payment to comrades Lenin, Zinoviev, Kamenev, Trotsky, Sumenson, Kozlovskij, etc. for the propaganda of peace in Russia.

2) All the registers of the Nya Banken of Stockholm containing the accounts of comrades Lenin, Trotsky, Zinoviev, etc., opened under the order of the German imperial bank no. 2754 ".

A few rather disturbing lines, which allude to betrayals and German bank transfers. The question, in fact, is not unknown. For some time there has been talk of Germanic funding aimed at "convincing" Russia to get out of the conflict, thus allowing the German army to concentrate on the "hottest" front, the western one, which saw the Kaiser's men engaged against the hated France.

To organize and finance Lenin's trip was a somewhat enigmatic figure, such Parvus Helphand, for the registry office Alexander Israel Helphand, a Russian-German socialist democrat who, according to the historian George Vernadsky (See Lenin, the red dictator, Yale university Press , of 1932), acted as an intermediary between Germany and Lenin by transferring several million rubles from one side to the other.

Eustace Mullins - in his controversial The New Order, Ezra Pound Institute, 1985 - argues that in the early 1920s a Federal Reserve office was located on Wall Street, at 120 Broadway, specifically aimed at financing the Bolshevik Party, engaged in difficult construction of the USSR.

Lenin hired by the German secret services and American banks to start a Communist Revolution aimed at getting Russia out of the way of the conflict.

2. BANKS AND THE GREAT WAR ( as well All the WARS ):

But is that really the only goal towards Russia, to get it out of the conflict? Are these really purely military aims, on the part of the forces of the Alliance alone? Pucciarelli underlines how this debt was the result of the complex mechanisms adopted by the International Banking System in order to heavily borrow the various governments and then declare their insolvency, when the internal tax levies were no longer able to cope with the bank loans obtained. The tense international political climate of the beginning of the century, then - also highlighted by the continuous "diplomatic incidents" of the time and by the widespread custom of inserting in every European government the office of Minister of War, moreover punctually entrusted to a general - did the rest.
