Singing that song at my school would have caused the blacks to join with the surfers and the rednecks and jocks to simply kick the singer's ass. And that's true.
RC
Oh crap, I was listening to it on my own personnel collection, but I will find a link and I'm sad to say it will use "YouTube" (probably), but going forward I'm gonna make a serious effort not to provide any link using the You-Tube and this is my 3rd New Year's resolution. Funny RC, cause it seems you are now directly involved in 2 out of my 3 resolutions, so I hope I can count on you to help me achieve my goals. And I say that with no sarcasm. I mean it.
~~~~~~~
OK, here is the link: [Link] and another [Link] (sorry about the ads at the 2nd link, but won't be long before they will be gone....
Best to you,
BK
RC
You speculated that he had been a poster here as I recall.
In a way, Tom Petty is in my head.
In another way he ain't cause he is dead or so they say......
Do you remember...
BK
Great music. He had moved to L.A. shortly before I moved to Gainesville/UF. I'm listening to Foghat, Energized. [Link] Another album from my 8-track era.
RC
Tom Petty is a classic act and the Traveling Wilburys raised that up a notch. I'd provide a link, a good one I found of the Traveling Wilburys, but it was on YouTube and for me, once I make a resolution I don't really care if the New Year has already commenced because I resolve to do it when I make the resolution. I'm gonna be working on this and so many other ideas that lately seem to be spontaneously arising in my consciousness, but most of these ideas only emerge when I am interacting with others. I think we all can relate to that.
Peace,
Ken
*As I type that, I remember that was what I used to refer to him back then, such as you being BK. If that ain't canyon jamming, I don't know what could be. I'd put the odds I'm right at over 2/1.
Also, re the lightning strike guy, it also looked like he might have had relatively insulating footwear. That's an incredible video.
RC
I suspect the footwear provided resistance, so then the current found the easier path to dispel itself. If my suspicion is correct, you know what this means don't you? It means "electricity" can sense what is down the path....or that the path itself manifest in real time meaning time is expressed or can be expressed instantaneously over a certain distance when it comes to electricity. Regardless, time moves on and this is constant.
Ken
Seriously cool 😎 [Link]
Most of that is speculation to an extant, but it is grounded in good education on the principles of science and math.
After heading into the umbrella, the lightning would have brought it up to it's potential (i.e. voltage). Which would exceed the breakdown voltage of the grip (or the surrounding moist air) and cause a secondary discharge (lightning), now charging up the man and his radio. Assuming wet foodwear, it probably discharged directly into the ground, going the past of least resistance.
Since a lightning discharge is a fast impulse and as such "high frequency", the skin effect is significant, restricting the current flow mosty to the outer sectors of the "conductor" - thus the name. Which would mean his inner organs are less affected directly. Exactly, there is quite a bit speculation involved.
But in difference to e.g. virology, one could easily reproduce it in a lab if the important parameters are known.
Ken
Well, if you have a short-wave radio it would be advisable to have it grounded.
If you have a radio in your hand then praise the Lord above if you get struck by lightening and survive!
Ha, ha.
