SBU campaign against resistant priests intensifies

The head of the schismatic UOC-KP, the self-styled patriarch Filaret, said that the Ukrainian church needs a tomos for eucharistic communion (the possibility of serving the liturgy and the communion together) with all the Orthodox churches of the world. He stated this on the day of namesake.

"We have to do everything to unite with all Orthodox churches in Ukraine, and we do it, and we came to the conclusion that all three churches, not all bishops, but from all three churches, the Ecumenical Patriarch received an appeal for a tomos about Ukrainian autocephaly churches, " he stressed.

"Why do we need this tomos? Can't we be without it? We can, and we live, but we want to enter into unity with all Orthodox churches, that we pray with the Greeks, and with the Bulgarians, with all, and with the Russians, with all the Orthodox in the world. For this we want to have this tomos. We hope that we will get it, "said Patriarch Filaret.

According to him, the one who works for the separation of Ukrainian Orthodoxy, "he serves the enemy and, above all, the devil."

This comes as state-sponsored repression against clergy tied to the Russian church intensifies. Metropolitan Mogilev-Podolsky and Shargorodsky Agapit (Bevtsik) were arrested by the BSU Security Service of the Vinnytsia region, and taken to Kiev.

This was announced by the archpriest of the UOC Alexander Bach.

"Remember, I said that the bishops of the UOC will be delivered to the cathedral with a "guard"? So, today, Metropolitan Mogilev-Podolsky and Shargorodsky Agapit (Bevtsik) are forcibly brought to Kiev by the SBU of the Vinnytsia region. Vladyka was taken from the house where he stayed in the Chernivtsi region. The official reason is for a conversation with the president!", noted Bach.
