The adrenaline-pumping stunt was filmed at the ski-resort of Saalbach-Hinterglemm, Austria for the YouTube sensation's latest video - and ended with him smashing his collarbone.
Wibmer admitted he was "so lucky" when filming the stunt and guessed that his leap of faith could be the longest bike jump ever made. "We googled the longest jump on a bike and it's 42 meters," he said in behind the scenes footage, admitting it's the longest he has himself ever attempted.
The clip begins with Wibmer descending from a helicopter on his mountain bike and immediately hitting the snowy slopes. This was the hardest part of the whole production, he told Red Bull.
If you do, you'll see when he's (allegedly) being chased by the ski patrol that the skier behind him is trying to get close enough to him so that he - the skier - is seen via the fisheye lens on the go pro camera on the back of the bike. (At 3:44)
When he does, you will see that to get into that place and hold it long enough to be seen appearing to chase the biker, he literally has to snowplow to keep from running into the guy's tail. Just after that, (at ) there's a side shot where the skier goes into a downhill tuck, (at 3:59) and instantly begins gaining on the biker going who is going as fast as he can.
Nonetheless, it's still quite crazy, plenty fast, and certainly more dangerous than skiing or snowboard due to the higher center of gravity.
