A nation that continues year after year to spend more money on military defense than on programs of social uplift is approaching spiritual doom.
I reported it yesterday morning. I had seen the report in the French news the day before already. [Link]

The problem with HVAC people avoiding working on the furnace seems to be that there is unpermitted work that happened before I bought the house. I, now the responsible party, do not intend to allow yet more unpermitted work. I would actually be being used to cover up the previous problem work. Is this the norm today?
I may be giving too much thought to this but I want to install an inexpensive direct vent counterflow natural gas wall furnace with the install being done by certified professionals, with both costs of approx. $1300 totaling $2600, rather than wade into the dark waters of a central heat furnace with duct work that is the result of adding a modern gas furnace to existing ductwork for a steel wood/coal burner. The modern gas furnace being installed backwards for some unknown reason. Do I want to touch that mess? No. And the HVAC people don't want to either. I greatly fear that more tinkering on the central heat system would rise to the level of the national debt.
No wonder why I choose a totally new option: new furnace in the living room of my very small 1,000 sq ft house.
I was asked by one HVAC who did not present a promised estimate, when I discussed my desire for a new heating system, would I mind the wall duct openings just sitting there not needed. What would I do about them? Are you warm now?
