With emergency response to the terror attacks in Paris shutting down public transportation, Parisians are taking stranded people into their homes and advertising safe havens on social media using the hashtag #PorteOuverte ('open door').

Lines 3, 5, 8, 9 and 11 of the Paris Metro have been shut down, leaving many people stranded on what is usually a night of revelry in the French capital.

There have also been reports that Parisian taxi drivers have turned off their meters, and are taking people home for free.
