History will have to record that the greatest tragedy of this period of social transition was not the strident clamor of the bad people, but the appalling silence of the good people.

...I read an article about a Japanese android that can walk along a sidewalk and avoid bumping into people.
To an observer, that behavior is human-like. However, it is only mimicking human behavior. The android has been programmed to judge -- or to learn to judge -- the positions and the speeds of the people.
What's missing from the android is manners. It's not nice to bump into people.
AI researchers are materialists. Their focus is on the working of the human brain. To them, the brain and the mind are the same thing. To them, consciousness is merely an electro-bio-chemical process.
You've probably heard of singularity and trans-humanism. By around 2050, the story goes, advances in computer technology will reach the point at which a person can upload his mind into a computer.
