The former governor of Abia State in South East Nigeria Orji Uzo Kalu says many Nigerians are aware that security agents were behind some of the bombings in Northern Nigeria but cannot speak for fear of reprisals. Kalu says the security agents are behind these attacks in order to drag fund from the federal government.

However, police has rejected these allegations, saying it will not be distracted from its serious job of protecting lives and property.

Nigeria's Minister of Information Labaran Maku has called the accusations as outlandish and irresponsible. He criticized the former public official for his remarks, saying this could discourage the security personnel who sacrifice their lives everyday to defend Nigeria.

However, experts consider the former governor as credible in view of complaints and similar allegations from some residents of the troubled Nigerian states.

Two weeks ago, a powerful explosion killed twenty-two people and injuring several dozens in the commercial city of Kano in Northern Nigeria.

The explosion was one of several other bomb explosions killing hundreds in other Northern Nigerian cities.
