As we gain ground on record rainfall totals, some businesses are losing ground in Weaverville. George Bielick of Asheville has seen enough.

"From one extreme to the next, dry as a bone to so much rain," says Bielick. "We don't know what to do with it. Here's an example." A sinkhole outside Arby's is about 15 feet deep so far, already swallowing half a light post, and still not done gobbling up real estate.

"All of the sudden our directional sign falls in cause the water's washing the dirt away as fast as it can," says president and CEO Joe Brumit, of Brumit Restaurant Group.

The ground is saturated, and Daryl Bess of NHM constructors also blames old water pipes.

"Yes the barrier's gonna have to be moved, we're gonna have to close the road here off," says Bess.

"That water's coming through the creek, still eroding." For safety reasons, the Arby's there on Weaver Boulevard has closed shop.

PNC Bank next door has shut down it's drive-thru lanes, but the bank is still open.

Down just a couple of hundred feet away, KFC's had a sinkhole for two months. That one's about 35 feet deep. KFC is still open for business.

Passersby are pulling out their cell phones to take a snapshot. But the picture of this sinkhole is still developing as ground gives way.
