The path to de-escalation is clear: Israel must rid itself of him. Don't look for Egypt to intervene. They are the Muslim Brotherhood which Netanyahu hasn't a shred of credibility with.
The only way to avoid civilian casualties is to not have a War in the 1st place. The fact that civilians get in the way of War is not an excuse for War, nor does minimizing casualties by technology make it right.
The root of the problem of War is that it is a failure of policy, and the failed policies are usually committed many years prior to.
Which is why War is messy business. The policies that led up to conflict were a horrid mess, and the growth of the weeds of failed policies hide the original failures.
Rehashing tired excuses and finger-pointing solve nothing. Only the wise can sort it out, which is why it is so important to rid the process of madmen like Netanyahu whose sole aim is to fan the flames.
