A nation that continues year after year to spend more money on military defense than on programs of social uplift is approaching spiritual doom.

Ain't it pretty? Connecticut is where many of the wealthiest Wall Street banksters have homes. It is just across the river from most of upper New York state. Nice suburbs, slightly grittier inner cities.
New England used to be better than this. I visited it at an early age, rode the train across the US and met my mother's family there, in Springfield, Massachusetts, where she was born and grew up, and in Portland, Connecticut, where her oldest brother was a Congregationalist minister, and also Darien, Connecticut, where her younger brother, the chemist, lived. Those were very nice people. Both of them graduated from Harvard, by the way, but I didn't care about that. They were gracious, caring people.
A prominent family in Norwalk, Connecticut needs to intervene, give this woman a job in their home - nanny, secretary, or what ever - along with rooms for her and her son, and defy the local school board. It's unconscionable that she should go to prison.
