A lightning strike killed more than three dozen livestock at a farm in Lakhimpur's Dhakuakhana sub-district.
The incident occurred around 1.30 am today when a thunderstorm accompanied by lightning hit Mazgaon village in Abhaypur under the Dhakuakhana sub-district.
The lightning struck the goat farm of Tapan Mili, killing 30 goats and other animals. Three cows, several poultry birds and his pet dog were also killed in the incident.
In the early hours today, villagers discovered the charred remains of the farm animals in the owner's backyard. The entire shed of the goat farm was reduced to ashes in the incident.
