Floodwaters lapped the shopfronts in the glitzy French resort of Saint Tropez on Saturday as torrential rains closed roads and train lines across the south of the country.
Firefighters were called out at least 10 times to help people trapped in their homes and cars by rising waters in the Var region that includes the town that where Brigitte Bardot and other celebrities live.
In the port, normally dominated by the fashion-conscious on a Saturday night, water washed around the doors of stores. Several restaurant managers and shop owners were spotted trying to push the water out of their businesses with mops. Police blocked some roads.
The Saint Tropez region and Var department were among the worst hit by the rains.
In the nearby commune of Muy, shopkeeper Patrick Gaillard set up a temporary dyke to protect his business.
In Le Luc, 152.5 mm of rain fell in a few hours, the equivalent of five weeks of precipitation, while in Vidauban, 119 mm of rain fell in the space of an hour, reports BFMTV.
Cyclone Dana made landfall past midnight on Thursday between Bhitarkanika National Park and Dhamara in Odisha, around 160km from Sagar Islands, but battered Kolkata with an average of 100mm rain in a day — the second-highest precipitation in a single day since Oct 26, 2013, when the city had received 109.5mm rain.
Since landfall, after Dana's long tail started to show its sting, a total of four deaths were reported across Bengal, of which one was in Kolkata. None of these deaths was directly attributed to the storm's fury, however.
Three of the deaths were from electrocution: in south Kolkata's Bhowanipore, 20-year-old Saurabh Prasad Gupta was electrocuted to death in a waterlogged street; a person died of electrocution in Patharpratima, South 24 Parganas, while trying to fix broken cables in his home; and, on Friday morning, civic volunteer Chandan Hazra (32), accompanying a police team, was electrocuted to death when he accidentally touched a live wire in Bud Bud, Burdwan East.
Fijians living in the central division are being advised limit any unnecessary travels, as over a dozen roads and crossing are closed due to flooding.
Local media report that several homes in some parts of the division have been submerged underwater from heavy rainfall overnight.
The Fiji Metservice says a low pressure system is moving over the country, with associated cloud and rain forcasted to affect the central, eastern, and northern divisions until tomorrow.

Uruguay registered rain and storms on Wednesday that affected several areas of the country, but some departments were the most affected. Paysandú (on the Uruguayan coast, bordering Argentina) was one of the places that suffered the greatest consequences of the inclement weather. In videos posted on social media, it was possible to see flooded streets and dump trucks in the middle of the street.
The strongest wind gusts in the area were 76 kilometers per hour in that department, according to data from the Uruguayan Institute of Meteorology (Inumet) reported by the Uruguayan news program Subrayado on Channel 10. Rain that fell for two consecutive days in many cities and regions of Azerbaijan, including Baku, has caused a series of complications. Roads, tunnels, and residential areas have been flooded, cars, homes, and yards remain under rainwater, and people find themselves helpless in areas surrounded by water.

Schools were shut and people worked from home in India's tech hub of Bengaluru on Wednesday after the heaviest rains in nearly three decades again brought the city to a standstill.
Bengaluru has become hostage to the monsoon rains in recent years, with flooded roads, uprooted trees and choked drains becoming an annual feature in the city of 14 million.
This year, a weather station in the northern part of the city recorded rainfall of 186 mm (7.3 inches) on Monday, the highest in a single day recorded in the city since 1997.
As of Tuesday, Bengaluru had received 211.7 mm of rain this month, nearly double the rain normally seen during this period, according to data from the India Meteorological Department.
The resulting disruption has renewed concerns about unplanned development of "India's Silicon Valley", which is home to thousands of startups and global companies from Walmart (WMT.N), to Alphabet's (GOOGL.O), Google.
"If it rains for even half an hour, flooding happens," said Saurabh Kumar, a Wipro (WIPR.NS), employee who resides in an apartment complex that uses tractors to ferry residents to and from the entrance when it rains.
Parts of Gqeberha and Kariega have experienced severe flooding following heavy rain in the Eastern Cape.
Gift of the Givers Foundation operations manager Ali Sablay said calls were pouring in for humanitarian assistance.
"Community members are being transported to school halls and churches. KwaNobuhle is without drinking water as the water plant is flooded," he said.
"We are currently in contact with the local disaster management teams who are identifying and trying to evacuate residents. Our teams will be assisting, and an urgent list has been sent to us for blankets, mattresses, personal hygiene items, and hot meals to assist flood victims, who will be accommodated in school halls and churches."
A middle-aged man has became the latest casualty of the devastating floods which wreaked havoc in Nelson Mandela Bay this week, bringing the death toll to four.
The municipality on Wednesday confirmed that at least three people had died, though The Herald knows of four incidents.

The storm caused floods, overflowing rivers and landslides in the state of Chapas, which borders Guatemala. Roads, homes and various facilities were damaged by the storm.
This is at least the fourth such event in Mexico this hurricane season. The most devastating was Cyclone John, which claimed the lives of 16 people in the state of Guerrero, in southern Mexico, and caused numerous material damages in the resort of Acapulco, devastated last year by the powerful hurricane Otis.
Two people were confirmed dead and hundreds have been rescued in Roswell and surrounding areas after a record-breaking deluge of rainfall led to "dangerous" flooding in the Eastern New Mexico town over the weekend.
New Mexico State Police confirmed two people died as a result of a storm that on Saturday brought 5.78 inches of rain to the town — the most ever recorded in a single day in Roswell, breaking a record set in 1901.
Police did not offer any additional details about the deaths by late Sunday night.
The heavy rainfall caused the Spring River channel to overflow, leading to flash flooding in Roswell which meteorologists described as "extreme." The National Weather Service in Albuquerque predicted a 40% chance of additional rainfall overnight Sunday.
The New Mexico National Guard had rescued nearly 300 people from floodwaters by Sunday morning, the agency said. Of those rescued, 38 were taken to nearby hospitals.
