With just two weeks to go until Trump's inauguration, some analysts — even a few who are well known and respected —
are talking up the possibility of an Israeli American strike on Iran to "cut off the head of the snake".I'm not sure whether that's Iran's head - or Trump's.
The idea seems to be circulating in the
British media - which is, of course, a snake pit.

British journalists hiss a lot. And slither.
Those who believe this nonsense rationalize that the Israelis have been bombing Syria's air defense systems so that they can launch a large fleet of aircraft towards Iran undetected, which shows how good educations are wasted on bad minds.
Why an attack
now you ask?
Hiss and slither....In January 17, the president of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian, will visit Moscow to sign a comprehensive mutual cooperation agreement, which of course includes security cooperation. Within a year, with even more Russian help, Iran will be in an even stronger position to defend itself. And Oreshnik has shown that you don't need nuclear weapons to do that.

So the US and Israel don't have much time left!
That at least is the reasoning of Israel and what I will call the Neocons' Excellent Adventure.
It is risible — just the kind of thing the writers in the British media like to dream up, hoping to get jobs in Hollywood.

Of course, it's just a an idea — but it's still possible the show might air --since the
US and Israel have never let reality or reason get in the way of doing something absolutely silly.
After all, Dude, it was "most excellent" for Bill and Ted.
A few caveats — everyone's a critic, I know! — I
loved Bill and Ted.
I
hate Joe and Bibi.
More caveats....
The West has known for months that the Russians and Iranians are going to sign a mutual cooperation agreement. It is hardly "news".
Russia has already been sharing military technology and systems with the Iranians on a
quid pro quo basis since Iran has a strong industrial and technological base — S400s, long-range radars like Voronezh-DM system, Su35s, and the like.
The Mutual Cooperation Agreement, however, is principally focused on trade, industry, transportation and the like - it's a long-term, principally economic agreement. The military matters are already being dealt with.
Despite what Western analysts think, the destruction of Syria's local air defense systems would
not — will not — affect Iran's ability to defend itself.
The Russians never supplied Syria with its latest missile systems - nor its most advanced radars. The systems it supplied were for
local target detection and defense — a generation behind.
Iran has the best Russian radars - said to be good up to 10,000 km -- with anti-stealth characteristics and all sorts of bells and whistles. It also has Chinese radars.
And its own. It's locally-made air defense missiles are very good - in addition to its Russian and Chinese systems.
Add to this — it is a very
long way from Israel to Iran for Israel's limited number of first-line attack aircraft.
It's not a short hop like it is to Beirut or southern Syria or Gaza.© News Forensics
Last time, the Iranians knew the attack was coming and it was a total failure.
This time if Israel attempts to strike Iranian assets - most of them buried deep underground taking advantage of the mountainous terrain-- they would once again be defeated handily. Of course, there are US carrier forces to consider -- but so far have those been unable to cope with the Houthis - and they are large very vulnerable targets of Iran's more advanced missiles.
The previous Israeli attempt did minimal damage in Iran-- not quite enough to justify massive retaliation of the kind that Iran
could carry out if it really wanted to disable Israel and its military — but did not since they probably did not want to provoke a really big war for a largely inconsequential and effective strike -- understanding that Biden was on his way out.
Iran would also have had to consider that
Biden and his neocon support animals are certifiably insane .Best way to win a street fight against drug crazed morons? Don't fight.© News Forensics
On the other hand, a massive attack by the US and Israel would force them to fight — which would necessarily be all out it, Sink a carrier or two.
Destroy half of Tel Aviv and every Israeli military base plus its power grid.
Iran had the resources to defend itself before. Now it has more resources - and can do it more completely.'Course I might be wrong... There is chaos theory to think of!Special ArticleNow on the last stretch. Sorting information, misinformation, dysinformation and malinformation on Putin and Xi Jinping.
I have rewritten over and over. And it's still not quite right. But I will finish soon.
I posted a draft of the beginning some time ago. It looks nothing like that now!
Many thanks to those who provided criticism of that attempt BTW.
Looks like there will be
three special articles in total! I will try to edit each to manageable length.
