Vegan mom sentenced to life in prison after son starves to death due to 'severe malnutrition'

A vegan mother in Florida was sentenced to life in prison following a first-degree murder conviction for the death of her 18-month-old son.

Sheila O'Leary, 38, was convicted in June after her son Ezra died from what prosecutors said were "complications from severe malnutrition and dehydration."

"This child did not eat. He was starved to death over 18 months," Francine Donnorummo, the special victims unit chief at the Lee County State Attorney's Office, said at the trial.

The child died on Sept. 27, 2019. At the time, police said, he weighed just 17 pounds. In addition to the murder charge, O'Leary was convicted of aggravated child abuse, aggravated manslaughter, child abuse and two counts of child neglect.

Her husband, Ryan Patrick O'Leary, awaits trial on the same charges. Sheila and Ryan were both indicted by a grand jury in Lee County, Florida, on Dec. 18. 2019.

Sheila O'Leary said her family adheres to a strict diet of raw fruits and vegetables, although she and her husband told investigators that Ezra also received breast milk.

Sheila O'Leary has three other children, ages 11, 5, and 3. State Attorney Amira Fox's office noted that they "also suffered from extreme neglect and child abuse," and that Sheila O'Leary has been ordered not to have any contact with them.

Comment: Despite the demonstrable harm that vegetarianism and veganism does to health, with this case being just the latest example, governments across the West are actually advocating for this deadly dietary practice, with some schools even forcing it onto children:

Jean Michel So do bodies and diets. I doubt it's a valid point to suggest veganism and/or vegetarianism is bad for everybody. Maybe so for most, but I know some supremely healthy vegans. Then again, they are very advanced meditators/yogis, so I suspect that has a lot to do with it. Not so for me, but as I get better at various spiritual practices, I seem to need less and less food of any kind.

Instead they recommend sterilisation to their followers (especially the MDs involved in this psyop). Which is usually not necessary, because their severe malnutrition makes them infertile anyway.

And the government recommends veganism for every age group. Fits in well with all their other "recommendations".

Psstoffgoy The other big advantage of vegan stuff - it is easy to produce in a mass industrial scale, just like grain and sugar sh*t. Consequently, most of it is produced by those international corporation that dominate the Western food market, and can easily "lobby" politicians.

When the Anglo-Saxons bombed Germany day and night in the 1940s, how many US-owned weapons manufacturing sites there (Ford, Opel=GM, Standard Oil, etc.) did they actually hit ?? --- A rhetorical question ...

But the vegans have still another problem. Half of the stuff they depend on is moved around the world. Fruits and vegetables from South and Central America, Africa and East Asia had been standard offering in European supermarkets. Not anymore.

Coffee is imported into Europe for centuries, in earlier times mostly from the Near East. As the legend goes, the Ottomans brought it to Europe during their siege of Vienna. And the first coffee houses were built there, from captured or abandoned coffee.

But my point is - it is roasted, and quite durable if stored properly. Look instead into the logistics to get fresh blueberries from Peru to Central Europe during winter. And this is no joke, by the way.

Coffee was common here more than a century ago, only much more expensive. As it was e.g. in Eastern Germany during my youth. Comparing it to contemporary conditions, perhaps about 10...15$/€ per pound.

I think this is coming back. Foreign drugs will become a luxury again.

codis I guess that's why my grandmother from Slovakia rarely used spices and seasoning other than salt and black pepper when she cooked, they simply weren't available.

Psstoffgoy Might be the case. I remember my mom used these spices preferably, but had others as well.

Many plant extracts are more or less toxic, so are many spices, at least in larger doses. Like cumin or nutmeg.

I do only salt my meat, no other spices.
