Buffalo_Ken Winter 2022 will be a telling winter, it will give clear indications as to what is to emerge next time around.WN3, that storm I mentioned yesterday due east of Iceland, the center of the low pressure system, has transposed itself incrementally to the east further and therefore heading towards Norway, but it hasn't really moved much. It has been rather static. Still, the winds on the west coast of Norway remain turbulent and precipitation is occurring and this is some serious weather. Oh well, I reckon all you all there are used to it and it ain't no big deal, but it seems to me that something is amiss.
The Mid Atlantic ocean has been a great source of high pressure systems which have cast their presence up North, offering stability and shelter from the worst of the movement of cold air in the Northern hemisphere.
I'd question as to whether such a mechanism will be so available next Winter.
There seems to be a forward moment off cold air at 1000hpa ( ground level ) and a delayed approach of cold air higher up in the atmosphere, 500, 250hpa.
This could suggest that a more permanent structure of cold air is to establish itself over the USA
Jury's out on this suggestion but it's possible.
