Late last month,
Science Advances published a study by Zohar Ringel from the
Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel, and Dmitry Kovrizhin of the
University of Oxford disproving the idea that humanity exists in
a simulated universe inside the hard drive of an uber-advanced super/quantum computer belonging to some being from the future - extraterrestrial or otherwise.
Both Ringel and Kovrizhin have since come out to say they were surprised by the headlines generated by their study on simulation theory because, as
Ringel told New Scientist, whether or not we live in a computer simulation is not even a scientific question.
Although versions of it existed earlier, simulation theory was made popular in 2003 by
Oxford philosopher Nicholas Bostrom. That year, he published a paper that basically proposed the idea that an extremely powerful computer could model the entire mental history of humankind.
Some deduced that this meant that our very existence could be that simulated model, a proposition that was made even more popular thanks to the likes of Elon Musk and Neil deGrasse Tyson. The Tesla and SpaceX CEO said that chances that we're living in reality is only
a billion-to-one, while the astrophysicist said the likelihood that
we're living inside someone's computer is 50-50.
WORKING WITH OBSERVABLESAll this talk of computer simulated reality brings us back to a fundamental idea about science: it deals with what can be observed and replicated. Simulation theory is impossible to test and is, therefore, not an area of scientific research.
"To me, both the 'are we living in a simulation' question and any response to it based on current computer knowledge is silly," theoretical physicist Marcelo Gleiser of
Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire, told
New Scientist. "Bostrom's paper assumes that there is an interest from a hyper-advanced civilisation [sic] in simulating the past, that is, retroactively. Usually it's the other way around - we look forward with computers."
Gleiser added that trying to explore this concept using our current knowledge and technology is both risky and tricky. We don't really know how versatile and powerful quantum computers could be once the technology is perfected, and living in a simulation could mean that we don't really have access to the laws of physics in a "real world."
If that's true, we can't begin to assume what's possible outside the constraints of a simulated world. Remember Neo? He had no idea that the world outside The Matrix was dominated by machines. We'd be in a similar situation.
"In my opinion the question is much more fiction than science," said Gleiser. Or more philosophy with a scientific tinge. After all, Bostrom is a philosopher, though his theory does live at the intersection of science and philosophy.
This development really draws attention to the idea that science and philosophy are predominantly trying to answer the same question: "Why?" And often philosophers grasp for science to answer parts of that question, and scientists occasionally look to philosophy to inspire the questions they try to prove. However, the fields are vastly different practices that only begin to overlap when we try to answer the most fundamental question of "How and why did we get here?"
Because we have a world in which binary digital computers have been developed and used, we have a structure of 'understanding' in terms of mental concept and language for such notions as programming - and so have also a society in which we emulate or embody the 'mind' we discover through extending it.
IE A robot or golem society 'ruled' by programmed 'elites'.
The territory is the same Awareness/Existence - but our definitions and perspective shift and change as the experience in and of time.
We cannot turn around and look within - but we CAN release the compulsive program of looking OUT - as if what we are seeing is NOT through the filter of our mind - and indeed constructed in image as perceived reality. Be still and know (God) is simply true for yielding to true.
Persistence in focusing in self-definitions that generate/create 'independent reality experience' - is 'eating of the apple of the tree of judgement of good and evil'.
The 'Prodigal' cannot ACTUALLY lose a Living Inheritance and so must die to the truth in order to 'steal a copy' and suffer his own experience of differentiation in self IMAGE - that inherently conflicts with 'Behold I make All Things New!' - and so the image begets form-persistance through time as a sense of narrative continuity and control - because that is what is held focus in a 'falsley framed' sense of desire.
To align in true - yield your thinking to your Spirit - and if you do not know your purpose - the restoration of your Inheritance is yours none the less for blessed are the poor (self-deprived) for theirs IS the Kingdom of Heaven (to receive and extend). This makes NO SENSE in the thinking of the world - which runs the script of a private agenda - regardless its masking.
Truth is already true - but your current experience is your willingness to receive and accept and extend or share in like kind.
A disconnected 'mind' is a self-contradictory concept that can be focused within so as to have that reward/experience - but that does not make it true. Even the most extreme denial depends for its apparent power on the very thing it denies.
But in a certain practical sense the mind-capture or mind-control of a fear-defined separative self sense is a simulation. But do not underestimate the power of thought given belief. You must know that a false flag believed has all the power of belief in its reaction. So be curious as to what is currently running as thought, feeling and belief - IF you desire to know the truth rather than enslave it to your own thinking-distortions. You cannot change a program you are not aware of running or are unwilling to own because blaming others seems the lesser evil. But if you know you are focussing in and acting from 'who you are NOT' it is entirely yours to immediately focus instead in who you are - which the thinking 'mind' does not and cannot know - for it was made to not know.
Forgive them Father for they know not what they do. On wakening - you learn to put it behind you - rather than persist in focussing in or against what keeps you in the 'dark' of conflicted and isolating defences to maintain darkness against the light of an unconflicted awareness. Once chosen, judgement 'chooses you' - a bit like Fred Flintstone's cat. The good news is that no matter how long or by what complex of layers of experience have covered with and magnified a sense of powerlessness and disconnect... nothing has happened that has in any way changed the true source and true nature of your being - but your acceptance of yourself back into Self is by your willingness and not by what you thought to use as a substitute 'will'.
If you have noticed yourself doing what you do not want - you notice that this will is not your own - for true willing calls and aligns in the heart or wholeness of being.
If you want to think of God as an Infinite computer of Holographic Extension through ALL its 'parts' - it may open something practical or it may not. Be conscious in what you think, feel, say and do by releasing the 'dissociating and segregating' narrative control/continuity.
'WE' are not a collection of separate beings - but the separated self-sense seeks 'we' reinforcement for its identity. Resting in truth is not a search for external validations. We receive identity in the act of extending it - and so remember to love, your Life, your Brother/Sister and your world - instead of loving to judge and reject it/yourself/them.
Infinite regression or infinite lack is meaningless. So open a New Script. Go forth and multiply the idea that truly enlivens and resonates true of you - in whatever way is your current actionable inspiration. Existence is not 'when you get there' and being is a verb - not a noun.
