The aid includes food, medicine, tents and blankets as well as equipment to remove debris and reconstruct bridges and roads, El Universal said on Friday citing Venezuela's Minister of the Interior, Justice and Peace, Nestor Reverol.
Haiti's Ambassador to Venezuela Lesly David thanked Venezuela for sending humanitarian aid, stressing, as quoted by El Universal on Friday, that "Venezuela was the first country...that has come to help Haiti."
Venezuela had previously sent two batches of humanitarian aid to Haiti amid the hurricane.
Hurricane Matthew has impacted several countries in the Caribbean and has also skirted the Florida coastline.
For Haiti, the hurricane is the worst natural disaster since the country's deadly 2010 earthquake. According to the latest figures, Matthew led to the death of 840 people in Haiti.
Those who gave so generously after the 2010 earthquake probably don't realise how little of their donation was actually received by Haiti. There were so many preconditions imposed by the 'charitable trustees'.
This direct aid from Venezuala must seem like a god-send to Haiti.
