Rasmussen: It's time for NATO to provide Ukraine with lethal weaponry

Former NATO Secretary General, Advisor to the President of Ukraine, Mr. Anders Fogh Rasmussen said that the West will give Ukraine lethal weapons in the event that Russia "destabilizes eastern Ukraine."

"Ukraine is not a member of NATO and, therefore, the Alliance has no obligations to Ukraine's security. However, if Russia will not fulfill the Minsk agreement, if it continues to destabilize eastern Ukraine, I think it's time for the West and for NATO to provide Ukraine with lethal defensive weapons. And then the Ukrainian military will be able to better defend against Russian aggression", Rasmussen said, in an interview with "Apostrof", released on Sunday.

He also noted that the Armed Forces of Ukraine has done much to strengthen its defenses.

Comment: The weapons industry is booming, thanks to the US and NATO. And no doubt about it they have long sold 'lethal weaponry' to the government they imposed in Kiev. In 2014 the US Congress called on the POTS to 'provide the Government of Ukraine with lethal and non-lethal defense articles, services, and training required to effectively defend its territory and sovereignty'. And in September of 2014 NATO began sending weapons.

Tracking weaponry

These days it must be relatively easy and standard procedure to discretely track weapons and military machines sold to others.

Technologically speaking it makes sense for nations selling military transportation to create back door computer code which can take over control thereby effectively creating an autopilot to be used ICE.

The merest possibility of this being the case makes it hard to understand why anyone would buy another nations military produce.

I'm sure that happens, but

if their were any of the necessary contols to operate, say, a tank, on "autopilot" or remotely, it would be pretty recognizable, both in the hardware (the hydraulics, electrical wiring, etc.) and the software (a fat chunk of code, and all the solenoids and sensors necessary to actually make it work.

Basically, easy to spot. I could see it working in something exotic, like a missile battery, but it would be hard to hide in many things.

Large defense contractors operate in many countries. Something from the U.S.A might have parts from the same company (say, raytheon) built in Greece, Brazil, Germany, and all over. It would be a big deal if anyone found something like you are describing.
