Nevertheless, there are Kurds and there are Kurds. The Barziani clan in Iraq are a different lot to those in Syria. And here we go back to 1970's Iraq, when Saddam Hussein, as Vice-President, essentially offered the Kurds complete autonomy, only insisting that oil revenues and the military were state controlled... said they could have their own police forces, their own regional government, their own education system.... PDK and PKK couldn't agree, instead agreed to fight each other.
