The US of A has organized this mighty 60+ coalition of countries in 'leading' the fight against Islamic State for 18 months now.
That have gloriously claimed over 9000 combat missions during that time. In less than four months, the Russian Aerospace Forces claim over 6000 missions. With vastly more spectacular results. They have stabilized the sovereign and internationally recognized legal government of Syria, against clearly illegal attempts by external nations to overthrow them, in blatant violation of the UN charter.
My own Australian government is claiming to be running operations in Syria, at US request, although I doubt this is anything more than complacent escort missions for tanker flights. Certainly the Australian government has yet to boldly state any direct attacks on ISIL/ISIS/Islamic State.
As always, the devoted Australian government is simply providing political support to their masters. Like the guided missile destroyer that is now apparently 'protecting' the French Charles de Gaulle carrier, even though Islamic State has no navy or air force. An imaginary and political gesture, no more.
My government disgusts me. I would much rather an independent government that is ruled by morals and ethics rather than political and economic convenience.
