French telecom giant Orange has suffered a data breach on April 18. Its website has been illegally accessed by unknown hackers who have stolen 1,3 customer records including names, email addresses and phone numbers, AFP reports, according to Itar-Tass.

Initially, the company stated that tens of thousands users were affected. It sent out a letter informing people to be cautious and not to provide any additional data via Internet.

Previously, Orange was targeted on January 16, when 800,000 customers' names and other personal data have been stolen by hackers. At the time, the company claimed that the passwords of the customers were not accessed and couldn't be used.

The main risk in these cases is that the stolen data are used for further attacks known as phishing. Such attacks are frequently disguised as an email from a company asking the customer to provide passwords, bank account numbers and other sensitive data.

Orange apologized to its customers and reported that it had found the source of the attack and has filed an official complaint with authorities.
