I read a NY Times article about this guy.
He joined the army after 911. He was almost 30. There is some sense that he was running away from something. By all accounts he was a wholesome kid. But life can change that.
He was a staff sergeant, which means he led groups of soldiers. Apparently, he was pretty good at this.
This story is definitely missing something. Particularly in light of the Afghans' version of what happened.
Is he conning us? Or is he being framed?
