Two members of the Border Police have been indicted at the Jerusalem District Court for allegedly abusing and assaulting a minor. The two are Ishai Ben-Ozri, 30, a resident of Ariel, and Shani Sevilia, 22, of Jerusalem.
According to the charges, they assaulted a 17-year-old after he was found to be carrying firecrackers during a routine check at the Rockefeller checkpoint in Jerusalem.
Ben-Ozri allegedly punched the teenager in the jaw and kicked him in the knee. Sevilia, meanwhile, allegedly beat him and placed her pistol at his head, leading him to believe she was about to kill him. His eyes were covered.
Tzion Benishti, 23, a driver in the unit, was present during some of the incident. Benishti, a resident of Givat Ze'ev, was charged with lying and breach of trust and will serve as a witness against the other two officers.
According to the indictment, the three served in the same unit, in which Ben-Ozri was the team leader. On March 16, 2010, they detained two minors and searched them, finding three firecrackers.
Ben-Ozri allegedly grabbed the youth and dragged him behind a parked bus where he punched and kicked him. An officer whose identity is not known handcuffed the teenager and delivered him to Sevilia and Benishti, who put him in a patrol car.
At the police station, Sevilia covered the teen's head with a coat and threatened his life and kicked him. "In two minutes you're dead," she allegedly told him.
After making the prisoner go down on his knees, she allegedly pointed her pistol at him at point-blank range. It was not loaded, but he did not know this because his eyes were covered. According to the charges, she counted to 10, with the teen begging her not to kill him. She allegedly pulled the trigger, saying "Death to Arabs."
