Residents in a suburb of Lisbon complained on Monday of metal objects falling from the sky. The fire service in the Almada district south of the Portuguese capital said the objects are believed to be from an aeroplane flying overhead.

"We found metallic objects measuring around five times six ten centimetres in several places," said fire service chief Vitor Espirito Santo in an interview with news agency AFP. He added that nobody had been injured.

"One of the objects hit a car and the roof of a block of flats," said Santo, adding that locals were handing in the objects to police.

According to the television station SIC, the parts are believed to have fallen from the Angolan national flag carrier, TAAG.
