Date of Sighting: 1st August 2009
Time: 11:00 pm

Witness Statement: My friends and I were sat at a garden table discussing this and that. I was sat with a hedge to the right of me and beyond that another garden and beyond that a few more then a street light. I was sat so that the light was glaring through the hedge into my eyes. I grew frustrated at this and moved to get a better seat. As I did so, I scoured at the lamp as to show it a piece of my mind. In any case in doing so I noticed that the light that was causing me irritation was not that of the lamp post but of a bright orange orb or sphere above it.

I let the others know and we all made guesses to what it might be. After half a minute it made a slow and steady path at almost a 45 degree angle about where the hand strikes eleven on a clock. It rose steadily until it hovered at a medium height in the sky, it's hard to tell where in the sky it was as there was nothing to compare it to. There it remained, soundless and pulsing bright orange until it then resumed another path directly up. This time it shrank in size smaller and smaller until it looked like a star and then finally disappeared out of sight altogether.

I am aware that around these areas are military flight paths, and I have seen flares been shot out before over fields which look similar. However, they seem to fall steadily to the ground without changing direction and most certainly not altering its own course and alternating altitude and speed.

The event was over within about three minutes, perhaps a little less, we seemed unperturbed by the event except for the fact that none of us could put a finger on what this might have been.
