A clerk in Denham Springs reported to Livingston Parish police that he was beaten and robbed and described a suspect, but a review of the store's surveillance system showed that no robbery had occurred, according to police.

When police looked at the store's video, it showed that James Vines, 53, had actually fallen and injured himself, according to a statement released by Livingston police.

Police said that Vines was intoxicated and admitted to consuming five pints of vodka while at work. Livingston police also found a small amount of marijuana on Vines as well, but no receipts for the vodka.

Police said that Vines was treated for a laceration and booked for filing a false police report, theft and possession of a controlled substance.
