NewsReal: The Skripal Saga: Why Context is Everything

newsreal skripal novichok russian agents
Two Russian 'GRU' agents have been exposed as the perpetrators in the attempted murder-by-chemical-weapon of Sergei and Yulia Skripal. Their own story doesn't add up, but their movements are also inconsistent with the claims against them, and they appeared on TV (like no real active intelligence agent ever does).

Missing, as always, from the mainstream narrative of the 'Skripal Saga' is all-important context: Why Russia, why chemical weapons, why now, and why, in a world of 'full-spectrum' surveillance possibilities - not least complete retrospective psychographic profiles of anyone even remotely connected with civilization - can they not give us a straight story about what happened?

If you're happy to 'pick a side' and root for it in this debate, then don't watch this show. If, however, unlike most people on the planet - and virtually all Western politicians (elected and unelected) - you're interested in getting as close to the truth of this matter as possible, then, by all means, have a listen as Joe & Niall do their best cutting through the lies and innuendo to reveal what this game is all about.

The Truth Perspective: Morality in Politics: Why We All Don't Just Get Along

The righteous mind book
© Jonathan Haidt
History is filled with moral doctrines; doctrines that tell us where we are, what to do, and the kind of future we're striving for. These moral systems differ significantly around the world, and oftentimes in spectacular ways. In the 20th century many Western intellectuals took these differences as proof that morality was always a social construct used to maintain power and authority by an oppressive elite. After all, if what is considered 'moral' in one culture is absolutely 'immoral' in another, what hope was there for an objective morality?

Thankfully the story didn't stop there. In his book The Righteous Mind: Why Good People are Divided by Politics and Religion, social psychologist Jonathan Haidt set out to answer this question by assembling decades of his and others' pain-staking research. By grounding our knowledge of morality in the evolutionary history of mankind, he ultimately sets out a new theory of morality, one that is intuitively, intellectually, and empirically robust. Today on the Truth Perspective we'll discuss his arguments and the evidence he presents while placing them in their historical context.

On this episode of The Health and Wellness Show we touch on some of the latest news in the health-o-sphere. Despite the ongoing hate campaign against low carb diets there are quiet whispers that red meat, fat and cheese aren't the devils they're made out to be. Are magic mushrooms more than just for trippin'? And finally, we'll try to answer that not-so-age-old question of whether or not coconut oil is poison. Join us!

NewsReal: 9/11: Kill The Internet

newsreal 9/11 kill internet
It's time to shut down the Internet.

It's been fun, at times, but the technological behemoth it gave rise to is killing us. Sometimes literally, but for the most part culturally. As an experiment in social networking that would 'progress humanity', the core belief that fueled its most ardent proponents and techie innovators, it has failed. In aggregate, its net result has been the generation of a new set of oligarchs and a general population that is increasingly bombarded with lies and half-truths about reality, downloading instructions through corrupt intermediaries about how they should think, feel and act.

Certainly, the Internet is integrated with everything in our lives now, but it has to go. Or rather, it ought to go. This week on NewsReal, Joe and Niall explore this idea as a philosophical exercise. They are not seriously proposing that people go out and 'burn it all down' - rather, that people maintain as much intellectual and emotional distance from it as possible. In any event, the Internet age will likely naturally come to an end soon enough.

The Truth Perspective: From Sinners to Saints: Exploring the Psychology of Good and Evil

russian st george icon
Narcissism. Machiavellianism. Psychopathy. The so-called 'dark triad' of evil personality traits. We have all encountered evil people in our lives, but what does that really mean? Today on the Truth Perspective we look at the psychology of evil, the relation of various measures of such personalities with the Big 5 personality traits, and the correlations with violent, criminal behavior. Is evil just an unfortunate collection of interacting genes? An unfortunate collection of traits on the tail end of the bell curve? Or something else? And finally, what does all this imply for the development of character? Can we transcend our temperament?

The Health & Wellness Show: The Nanny State and the Myth of a Healthy Utopia

food police
Economists say obesity and its consequences cost our society $190 billion annually in health care and lost productivity. So our government overlords and health officials want to find effective strategies to discourage people from over-consuming sugary drinks and junk foods. They hope to accomplish this gargantuan feat through taxation that generates billions of dollars in revenue that will allegedly go toward schemes that will lay the framework for a healthy utopia where everyone is, ultimately, a super-hot vegan. It's all for the kids, ya know. But can anyone, let alone the government, successfully regulate private behavior? Who decides what is healthy? And what if the deciders not only tell us what not to eat but start enforcing what we we have to eat?

Join us for this episode of The Health and Wellness Show where we discuss the slippery slope of food policy and taxation contrasted with the need for policies that actually are for the public good, the foxes guarding the hen-house (otherwise known as the FDA) and the ultimate responsibility that rests with the individual.

NewsReal: Donbass Leader Assassinated as Russia Exposes Chemical Plot in Syria

newsreal zakharchenko assassination
The shocking assassination Friday of Aleksandr Zakharchenko, leader of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic, may end the Minsk Agreements and reignite the Donbass insurgency against Kiev rule.

The elimination of a high-profile Russian ally in Ukraine was almost certainly done with one eye on the developing 'mother-of-all-stand-offs' between Russian-Syrian forces and terrorist-F.UK.US forces in and around Syria.

With the Russian government alerting the world to another imminent staged 'chemical attack' in Syria, just as Damascus is poised to retake Idlib province - temporary home to tens of thousands of terrorist-mercenaries gathered there for a 'last stand' - Zakharchenko's murder appears to be 'revenge' against Russia for - again - thwarting Western goals in the Levant.

Finally in this episode, Joe & Niall discuss the arrest of two Irish journalists involved in producing a documentary directed by Oscar-winning filmmaker Alex Gibney (No Stone Unturned, 2017), which laid bare the British state's role in manufacturing terrorism in Northern Ireland.

The Health & Wellness Show: Love Eating Crap? Blame the Food Processors

Cookies, candy bars, pizza, chips, ice cream, french fries -- what do they all have in common? Incredibly blissful combinations of sugar, salt and fat not found in nature. This is no accident. Big Food Processors, like drug dealers, make a conscious effort to hook consumers and keep them coming back for more of the good stuff. Junk foods activate the same pleasure centers in the brain as opiate drugs. So is it any wonder that food cravings, binges and addictions are so tough to beat or that approximately 86% of humans are predicted to be obese by the year 2030?

Join us for this episode of The Health and Wellness Show where we discuss the nature and science behind the pleasure of eating, food industry tricks on creating hyper-tasty foods that we salivate over, how food addiction is not just a matter of lack of willpower and, finally, how junk food addictions can be licked for good.

And stay tuned for Zoya's Pet Health Segment where she talks about corruption in veterinary medicine, focusing on the confrontation between Dr. Robb and the vaccine industry.

NewsReal: Senator McCain is Dead! Trump Impeachment For Real? Imminent Syria 'Chemical Attack'

mccain death newsreal
Senator John 'The Maverick' McCain III is dead. This week on NewsReal, Joe and Niall look back on the illustrious career of an American hero and titan of US politics, whose indelible contributions to the War Party over four decades have earned him a place in the pantheon of Exceptionalistan.

Also this week: 'revelations' in two court cases stemming from the Mueller investigation produced a terrible week for President Trump, spurring the media to again go all out with calls for his impeachment. The Washington Crazies are not actually serious about forcing Trump out, are they?

Meanwhile in Syria, state forces amassing in the country's northwest to reclaim Idlib province for Damascus are being met - yet again - with the imminent threat of another staged chemical attack, with the Russian government warning that the plot is a pretext for Western powers to launch more airstrikes against Syrian military targets.
