The US-Israeli political assassinations against Iran have no place in a civilized world, the Russian Foreign Ministry has said, commenting on the death of the Islamic Republic's supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, in US-Israeli airstrikes. Tehran confirmed early Sunday that the 86-year-old leader was killed in one of the attacks. His daughter, son-in-law, and granddaughter also reportedly lost their lives in the strike.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Khamenei's compound was struck in a "powerful surprise attack," vowing that "thousands of targets" in the Iranian leadership will be killed in the coming days.
Moscow met the news of Khamenei's death with "outrage and deep sorrow," the ministry said in a statement on Sunday.
"The Russian Federation resolutely and consistently condemns the practice of political assassinations and the 'hunting' of leaders of sovereign states, which contradicts the fundamental principles of civilized interstate relations and blatantly violates international law."Moscow also warned that continued hostilities are leading to growing civilian casualties and inflicting serious damage on civilian infrastructure.
The conflict also threatens maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz, the statement said, adding that disruptions in the key waterway could lead to major imbalances in global energy markets.
"We call for urgent de-escalation, a cessation of hostilities, and a return to the political and diplomatic process in order to resolve existing issues on the basis of the UN Charter and the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons."Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian's office said Khamenei's killing will not go unanswered, vowing to retaliate against "the perpetrators and commanders of this great crime" with "full strength."
The bombing campaign launched earlier this week was described by Washington and West Jerusalem as a preemptive operation. US President Donald Trump has said regime change is one of the goals.
Moscow has said Iran was attacked because it "refused to yield to the dictates of force and hegemonic pressure."

Russia would be wise to stay the course. Leaving Iran to face this alone is not an easy choice, but the consequences of being drawn into a conflagration would be worse, and would likely become unmanageable. I sincerely hope that Iran has the wherewithall to make Israel and the US very sorry they started this, and the world refuses to be drawn in.

You might remember the many attacks by Israel on missile launchers and AD systems at the first day of the "12-day war". More than 90% of those were perpetrated by agents on the ground, throwing bombs. Almost all of those agents were discovered and disposed of.
It took the US and Israel years to place them there, and in effect they achieved very little. Every follow-up action got worse, and had less chance of success.

This was, and is, a technocratic takeover, dismantling whatever was left of representative government and the balance of powers. Again, he plays the clown role, drawing fire, and making clinically-insane and intently devious people like Elon Musk, Peter Thiel, Nick Land, and Curtis Yarvin look credible. Same M.O. as number one.
3) Mr. "Peace Board" is working hand-in-glove with the psychopath, Netanyahu, to turn the Middle East into Greater Israel, and turn Gaza into a real estate venture. He is also trying to get people to move toward adopting Stablecoins, the fiat of all fiat "currency" scams.
4) He is leading an attack on the sovereign country of Iran without provocation or purpose except that it is potentially in the way of access to resources and #3.
5) He's promoting and actively working towards the totalitarian wet dream of the North American Technate. Trump's oligarch managers aim to dissolve national borders and split the world into interoperable regions - one big AI-managed prison system of 24/7 algorithmic surveillance and control.
Your hero, Trump, is a pathological narcissist with delusions of grandeur, which compensates for an inferiority complex that drives his craven behavior toward his oligarch masters.
