This bolide was spotted from Spain on July 30, at 6:16 local time (equivalent to 4:16 universal time). The event was generated by a rock (a meteoroid) from Comet 169P/NEAT (= 2002 EX12) that hit the atmosphere at about 88,000 km/h. The fireball overflew Ciudad Real (Spain). It began at an altitude of about 101 km over Mestanza (province of Ciudad Real), moved northeast, and ended at a height of around 68 km over Alhambra (province of Ciudad Real).

This bright meteor was recorded in the framework of the SMART project, operated by the Southwestern Europe Meteor Network (SWEMN) from the meteor-observing stations located at Huelva, La Hita (Toledo), Calar Alto, Sierra Nevada, La Sagra (Granada), and Sevilla. The event has been analyzed by the principal investigator of the SMART project: Dr. Jose M. Madiedo, from the Institute of Astrophysics of Andalusia (IAA-CSIC). Its code in the SWEMN database is: SWEMN20250730_041611.
