The hail that fell during the storm was measured to be between 5.5 and 6 inches wide. That's larger than a soda can and much heavier.

The storm came from a system of strong thunderstorms moving across West Texas. The National Weather Service explained that the conditions were just right for something called a "supercell." That's a type of thunderstorm that can create really large hail and sometimes even tornadoes.
Texas is known for having big hailstorms, especially in the spring and early summer. Still, hail this large doesn't happen very often. Experts say that as more people move into areas that are likely to have storms, damage from hail could become more expensive over time.
