MMMMMMMM
A Tuscaloosa County woman was killed in a dog attack Thursday night.

According to the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Office, deputies received a call of a dog attack around 9:20 p.m. on Highway 69 North close to the Berry community.

The person who called in the attack was a family member of the victim who was checking on her at the request of the victim's husband.

When the caller arrived he found the woman inside the pen and attempted to check on her. However, when he entered the pen the dog also attacked him. The sheriff's office stated the caller was then forced to put the dog down.

"It's always sad every time there's a death," Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit Captain Marty Sellers said. "It's always a sad situation for the family and everyone involved, and this certainly is no exception."

When deputies arrived they discovered the woman dead inside the dog pen. Her identity has not been released at this time.

"Our hearts and prayers go out to [the family]," Edward Williams, the victim's neighbor, said. "She is not going to be around for her family anymore and I know that is going to be a loss."

The sheriff's office said the family had no prior issues with the dog and it was a family pet. The breed of the dog was not disclosed.
