Flash flood hits the city of George, South Africa

The weather in the Western Cape has certainly been bolder, and George has had to bear the brunt of Mother Nature's rainy endeavours.

The heavy rainfall led to flooding all over the city and was so intense that the George Municipality even asked all residents to stay indoors, with several schools closing for today due to bad weather.

Many locals with their cameras at the ready captured the sights in full. Take a look:

Always wondered when the climate change from the coming GSM would hit home in my hometown yesterday. Not so hectic as portrayed but record setting left right and centre. More apparently coming on Thursday. Can see the landslides on the mountain from the deck

KrynnCAW - folks have always had to work together in the neighborhood after inclement weather occurs or some other sort of calamity. The communities that do the best are the ones who work together mutually.

Winternights3 indeed, but would rather not if by choice. Water pipe in the neighbourhood burst in the flooding, so literally the first time "I told you so" to the family when I "Aquatabbed" a 20 litre water can out of the rain water tank for potable water. It is very real but we are all here together - good luck to you and stay FREE

Buffalo_Ken we have a great local community paid armed private security company (our police are sadly either overwhelmed or corrupt or both) and their WhatsApp group is incredible in terms of getting assistance to people when they need it. Africa is a bit different, if you want something done, do it and stop complaining
