Canada at one time had many political parties and some of them were actually gaining traction over the big three, but Harper put a stop to that by changing election rules and that got rid of most up and coming political parties here.
Marc Emery and the Marijuana party comes to mind; he is nothing now but before his stay in U.S. prisons his party was gaining on the Greens and even the NDP. Even now, several years after he was released back into Canada the media continues to smear him with false allegations, impossible to prove but still damaging. His history is like that of Hiroshima; destroyed to dissuade others from following in his tracks
