The latest heavy snowfall is impacting ski areas across the Alps with skiers and boarders waking up to deep fresh snow outside.

More than 150 ski areas have reported 20cm+ accumulations in the past 24 hours with some as much as 56cm (almost two feet) overnight.

Switzerland has reported the biggest accumulations so far with several resorts in the Bernese Oberland, Valais and Central Switzerland reporting more than 50cm of snow since Sunday.

But the snowfall is very widespread with ski areas in Austria, France and Switzerland also posting big overnight accumulations.

Crans Montana and the Portes du Soleil posted the biggest falls of the big-name ski areas with 40cm in 24 hours. In Austria Lech (below this morning) reported the most snow and in France Morzine, both with 35cm.

It's still snowing hard in some areas but sunshine is expected from tomorrow at many. Meribel pictured top.
